If you mean the am3 athlon rena dual core chip, I would say no.
You would easily kill that little cpu if you tried any medium high or intense gaming with it.

If you're current mobo is am3 ready and can support this quadcore that would be the way to go for gaming.

2011 uptil late 2016 in pc games it will do fine coupled with a good graphics card.

If its the athlon II quad core. then yes its ok for 720p gaming. it will struggle with some heavy game made in 2016- present. get a good gtx 750ti or a HD 7890 gpu

It's horrible for gaming. You will have to play at 1024res with graphics turned all way down, and youll still struggle,, but give it a shot. Check your frame rates with multitude of apps that can do this. What video card do you have ? If its below the 7xx series then please don't even bother. It's time to upgrade my friend.

It's good for the generation of games contemporary to its day. There are plenty of good choices to keep you busy until you're able to upgrade for more demanding games. Just because they're old doesn't mean they're bad. I just recently upgraded from a 2008 Phenom-based system to Ryzen, giving me roughly 8 years of backlog and a few years afterwards. Unless you're into MMO gaming which generally require later generations to participate in currently supported games, you're not missing much. Some actually get supported for quite a few years, so even with older tech, some of those games may still be on-line.
