Ooh, this again, sure thing, won't hurt anything anyways. I also attempted to add a nice registry line within the "run" folder = c:\windows\explorer.exe and even that was unsuccessful, but was worth a try.

Even that was unsuccessful ?

Now that's interesting, like there's a delay (ie it might come on after 20 mins

Actually try Bootvis

Close all running programs, except Internet Explorer

(warning: running the following will automatically restart your computer)

Download Bootvis h e r e
Once downloaded, Run it
Once Bootvis is open, click on Trace (on the toolbar)
Then click on Optimize System
Click on Reboot Now

Wait until your computer starts up (log on normally)
Once in Windows, do not press any key on your keyboard
Bootvis will automatically start, and optimize your system (this may take a few minutes)
Once Bootvis has completed, Uninstall it by running the bootvis.msi setup file again.
Restart again

Did that fix it?

Please try this (exactly!)

Start-->Run-->control userpasswords2
Tick: "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer"
Single click on your Username
Click Apply
Un-Tick: "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer"
Click Apply
Enter your logon password, or leave blank for none
Click OK
Click OK

RESTART

Can you tell I don't give up easily?

Alright, first thing, bootvis, did the optimize...it would not start to do the optimize untill I started explorer.exe.

Second,
I ran the command you asked and restarted the computer and its the same thing.

And back to MalwareBytes you go

Hear from you later then?

Good luck. (Now remember the words are: "It worked"

Aye, and I'll speak those words out loud if this works. Until then I am headed to bed and I'll let you know of my results tomorrow. I'll redo all the steps I took to clean the computer in the first place. After that, unless you find something else, I think I'll have to start backing up there info and consider a format.

Alright, I re-installed windows and re-created the profiles, and after copying over both, one worked and the other, which I used for most the testing, still wouldn't load explorer.exe but only after I copied over her user files. So what user file might be there to screw this up?

Again, after testing by re-applying the registry backup I made, it still did the same thing. The file I specifically avoided the 2nd time was the ntuser.dat. But after restoring the registry it did the same thing. So 2 things caused the issues, thankfully I made a reg backup before the test and also a restore point, without either it would have been another re-install.

So it exists in the registry

I wonder if you could remove half the backup of the registry backup file (using Notepad->open with) Until you find the registry entry causing it.

Ie try half the registry backup merged
Ok ? Restore the registry, and then try the other half merged
Faulty? Restore the registry and then halve the halved faulty registry

And so on, until you get to the registry restore part that causes the issue.

This will take time, but well worth it
ie In all forums across the net, once you get to this level, the only support offered is backup/re-install

I've re-installed anyways, and the only point in restoring registry is so that the customer wouldn't have to re-install all of his programs; but even this didn't work, ms office still wanted a disk. I'll just bring the computer to there place and quickly get the main programs installed or they can do it.

If this was my computer i wouldn't mind sitting on it, but its a customers and I'd had it for over a week now so I wanted to get it back to her.

Are you still there drakath
Can you at least send me the backup of Winlogon (possibly faulty) registry entry (zipped up)
So as I can view it, against mine?

I'm not interested in any user stuff or licence issues (don't think they're stored in here anyway)
And I have serviced (in person) about thousand computers (could be more, actually probably is)
Pretty sure Winlogon does not contain any private stuff, I just checked mine, and nothing in there to worry about.
