iTunes will arrive on the Windows Store this year

Microsoft’s announcement yesterday that it would be expanding Linux support to include OpenSUSE and Fedora distros on the Windows Store came as a surprise, but just as surprising was the news that Apple’s iTunes would also be arriving on the platform before the end of the year.

At its Build developers conference in Seattle, Executive Vice President of Windows and Devices Terry Myerson revealed the addition of iTunes. Apple’s first app on Microsoft’s storefront will include full iPhone support and come with access to Apple Music and the iTunes store.

There is, of course, already an iTunes Windows app, which has been around since 2003. It’s unclear whether the new version will differ in any way from what’s already available, but it could be redesigned to better support Microsoft’s operating system, and hopefully be a bit more user-friendly than the current Windows version.

The move is part of Project Centennial, which allows developers to bring their existing .NET and Win32-based Windows apps to the Windows Store. In addition to iTunes, Microsoft announced that progressive web app SAP Digital Boardroom is coming to its store sometime this month.

With iTunes already on Windows, why should this matter? Other than the new version potentially being slightly better, it has a lot to do with Windows S. Microsoft’s streamlined version of its OS, unveiled at its education event last week, only allows apps from the Windows Store to be installed – something the company says will make Windows S safer and more efficient. Adding iTunes means that users who buy a Surface Laptop won’t have to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro to access Apple's software.

I just checked and there is no iTunes app on the Windows Store right now not even a single iTunes app clone/Client (except for "iTunes Remote" which is NOT made by Apple) so therefore there is not already an official iTunes app already on the WS (Windows Store), I even checked for all platforms; PC, Mobile, and Xbox. I have also taken the liberty to tweet out to the official Apple Inc. and Tim Cook (the present CEO of Apple Inc.) Twitter pages to see if this is legit or not. So far, however, I have yet to get a reply/message from either Twitter pages. But that being said, I am very hopeful that this report is indeed legit and not some scam which if it does become/is a scam then I'll be very irritated and will most likely report this forum to Techspot themselves and ask them why they're posting lies to people on their site AND I will also post on every social media account I own (which is pretty much all of them) that this is a lie! but I will only do so after I have been seen an OFFICIAL iTunes app on the WS AND Apple Inc. sates themselves that this going to happen.

I'm an iPhone and iPad user and a Windows 10 PC user. I've never owned an Android device.

Then why are you calling the iTunes Store and Windows Store "rubbish"? @David Belkin I'm very confused
I didn't call the iTunes Store rubbish, I called iTunes, the program, rubbish, been so for years. I only have it installed to backup my ipad and iphone, that's ii.
Windows Store is rubbish. Apps aren't worth installing and using on a PC.

iTunes and the iTunes Store are the same thing. Just the platform forms are a bit different (the iTunes you download on Windows from Apple.com, presently, is the Windows program version of iTunes/iTunes Store/App Store and the iTunes/App Store that's already pre-installed onto idevices is the mobile version) and I can agree the Windows Store needs desperate help when it comes to apps and games (especially on Windows Mobile Store) where there isn't even an official Snapchat app or even an official Youtube app, you have to download clients/app clones or go to the actual website to use it which sucks @David Belkin
