Laptop chargers

Hi , I have an Asus laptop & it keeps switching off after a while due to the charger is geting hot, I want to ask can I use a different make charger which I have from previous which is a Toshiba but I was told it depends on the amp usage because iif if doesnt work it could damage my laptop

Volts and Amps. Enough of both. I have many old ones, different brands & models. They work easily in other laptops ok.

Also eBay offers 3rd party chargers, plugs, etc that work ok.

You MUST match the voltage output and at least be able to provide the same current or better.
Some laptops have 'smart batteries' and chargers which recognize the battery - - Dell is one of those. Without the match, the charging is disabled.
