Hi, im trying to fix my grandads computer because the disk drive wont open. There is a disk inside the drive (a free CD from the paper, i dont know if those things are riddled with viruses or something) and i have tried:

- Pressing the button to open the drive
- Using a paperclip to open the drive through the pinhole at the front
- Virus scanning the computer (no virus theats found)
- Right clicking the drive icon clicking eject and a message pops up saying "drive is in use click continue to close programs and lose unsaved data". If i click continue it comes up again but when i double click the drive it says theres no disk in it!!!

Its a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pa. I dont want to open the laptop but if thats what anyone sugests i will.
Someone please help.

try uninstalling the drive or IDe chanel it is on in device manager then reboot.

The CD drive is probably just worn out or jammed. If ISS's idea doesn't work, you will have to remove the CD drive and try to open it outside the laptop. Some laptops have a single screw that holds the CD drive in. This screw is accessed from the bottom, and is sometimes hidden in the memory or hard drive compartments
