Laptop mousepad left button trouble

when using my toshiba laptop the left mouse button seems to click on itself . any ideas on what is causing this problem to happen would be greatly appreciated thankyou

Does an external mouse work okay? Touchpads do break and wear out

an external mouse is working just fine having to use one at the moment to avoid the "auto clicking"

The touchpad may be "dirty" or it may need replacing
