Lenovo Monitor isn’t receiving input

My monitor keeps going into power save mode. I’m assuming because it isn’t receiving any input from my tower. I believe I have a VGA (monitor side) to DVI (tower side) cable. There is a dedicated graphics card in my tower so I think that’s why the HDMI isn’t fixing any problems that may be going on with the VGA/DVI cable.
