LG's new 4K monitor can display four Full HD sources at once

Large-screen, high-resolution displays have made it possible for those that need plenty of real estate for productivity-sake to effectively ditch multi-monitor setups (and do so at a reasonable price). Case in point is the new LG 43UD79-B, a 4K UHD IPS monitor currently up for pre-order.

LG’s latest features a 42.5-inch panel with a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 @ 60Hz (16:9 aspect ratio) that sports a static contrast ratio of 1,000:1, a brightness rating of 350 cd/m² and a gray-to-gray reaction time of 5ms. Being an IPS panel, viewing angles check in at the standard 178 / 178 degrees (horizontal / vertical).

The monitor also includes dual 10W Harman Kardon speakers and has an integrated headphone jack.

Video inputs consist of two HDMI 2.0 ports, two HDMI 1.4 ports, a single DisplayPort 1.2 port and a USB Type-C port (with DP Alt. Mode). What’s neat about the display is that you can connect up to four sources at once and have each source utilize its own 21.3-inch section of the screen in full HD. LG says there’s also picture-in-picture (PIP) functionality should you prefer to go that route instead.

AMD gamers will also appreciate the fact that it supports FreeSync dynamic refresh rate technology.

The LG 43UD79-B monitor goes on sale May 19 in Japan for “around” 83,000 yen. In the US, you can pre-order the display through Adorama for just south of $700.

Your thinking is too small time. What's wrong with having a tri-setup of these monitors? And don't tell me the cost. $21K for three of these baby's is a steal. Even the common beggar cruises around with that amount in their cup these days.
