My trusted Philips BDM4065 has started showing signs of its age. Its no less than 11½ years old as I bought back when 4K monitors was a very new thing, still doing mostly good except it has developed a few brighter areas where the backlight slips through a little. So it is not great for photo work and I wonder if it will just die someday soon.
The trouble I struggle to find a replacement that is on the same time a real upgrade, as I think I can't be the only one maybe we can help each other finding a good choice. I am considering the Dell Alienware AW3926QW, but I would have liked it to be slightly bigger and flat.
Here is what I don't care for.
- Any random 40-43" 4K 3840x2160VA unit that is essentially what I have. Meaning current DP, HDMI and USB3 will of course be nice, not much of an upgrade.
- Anything much smaller than 40"
- Anything bigger than 40-43" must have more than 3840x2160
Must haves is:
- 2160 pixels or more vertically
- 3840 pixels or more
- 2xDP inputs
- 1xHDMI input
- 60 Hz (anything has this)
Ideally I'd like:
- 5K, 6K or more pixels
- OLED with years warranty covering burn it
- Sub-pixles to be arranged RGB vertically arranged
- If the format is 16:10 or more, then the dream is a shape changing one
- Glossy or great ani-reflection that doesn't hamper the image clarity
- 2xDP, 2XHDMI, USB3
- Lots of Hz
I'm unsure about curved screens, maybe with something like a 49". With a 40" it seems more like unneeded or maybe even a hindrance. I worry about reflections as well as having to sit at an exact spot all the time.
