Lucasfilm reportedly puts Star Wars spinoffs on hold following mediocre Solo performance

I still think the only "moral" of this news, is Disney.s legendary greed, and sense of entitlement with respect to box office receipts.

Good or bad. I can afford to wait for this movie to show up at Redbox, barring any terminal illness I may be suffering from, but of which I am blissfully unaware.

"Solo", is likely worth $1.75 to watch, which would be the current one day rental fee.
My wife and I have stopped going to the theaters and now only rent. No unruly kids to deal with or their parents.

I have to agree about Disney.

Personally, I liked Jedi and Rogue One, but thought that The Force Awakens was crap.

Blockbusters are done with, the Silver screen is where its at. You want quality at good price? Go watch TV Shows like Westworld, GOT, Punisher etc...

Yes I totally agree with you!

We find we are watching more TV series than what we are movies these days. For some reason movies are not enjoyable anymore or perhaps we have been spoilt with a quality TV series?

Or perhaps it's just that we connect more with the characters of a TV series than what we do with characters in the movies?

Either way we have been watching more TV series these days than movies.
In the Star Wars universe, I think "The Clone Wars" was far better than any of the movies. I have not seen Rebels, but the reviews on IMDB make me want to, and I may buy the series on Blu-ray when the price drops to a reasonable level.

My wife and I rented Black Panther over the weekend, and while we thought it was good, we did not think it was great.

I really think that in the Marvel universe, this past season of Agents of Shield was superb, and the Marvel series on Netflix are very well done. Then as @Bp968 said, I think it is because they have so much more time to develop the story lines on TV than they do in the theaters. For me, storytelling is what makes a movie or a show great.

To put it bluntly, (and realistically), Black Panther was two hours of pure racial pandering for profit. It was racist. But nothing initiated in modern America by blacks, or in pursuit of their approval by purchase, can be without risk of life, limb, and property, if whites classify it or categorize it as "racist".

And quite frankly, "Black Panther" was "racist". Several main characters got to proclaim, "I'd rather drown in the sea jumping off a ship, that live as a slave", throughout the movie. Slavery was a fact, true enough. But in today's mindless snowflake society, anytime a claim of racism is made by blacks, it's taken as "gospel" (pun intended). But when whites try to maintain so much as a statue of a southern civil war hero, they have it stripped from them.

This congress woman Maxine Waters, espouses the exact tactics same against Sara Sanders, as southern schools employed against black students in the 1950's. She also seems to be advocating violence against members of the current administration. Which is not only a civil rights crime, but inciting a riot, both of which are prosecutable and impeachable offenses,. But she's black, and so she can say whatever she likes. Quite bluntly, the Trump administration should have called out the National Guard, and forced Ms. Sander's "integration", into that restaurant.

Back to Black Panther, the final scene at the UN is laughable, this is Science Ficton kidz, "Wakanda" is a fictional kingdom, there is no such element as "vibranium", and the majority of 3rd world Africa, really doesn't have anything to offer the rest of the world. Oh wait, I forgot about the illegal Nigerian immigrant car thieves we have around here. They're a worthwhile adding to US society. Just ask them, they'll tell you.

I really think that in the Marvel universe, this past season of Agents of Shield was superb, and the Marvel series on Netflix are very well done. But the "Hell Rider" season was sort meh, the next season in the opposite universe is a plot which has been done to death. (Even the CW's "Smallville" had one of those seasons). Don't get me wrong, "meh" is plenty good enough to entertain me for hours. (y) But Marvel and Amazon got together and decided they were going to monopolize the distribution of the DVDs, which started at season 2, which was released as an "Amazon Exclusive", at around 60 bucks on DVD, but I think that flopped. Anyway, it was enough of a provocation for me to lose interest, and stop following the series. (Well that, and our ABC affiliate Channel 6, is far enough away to be borderline reception with the old "rabbit ears"). I would have sprung for the series DVDs, but not under those terms.

I think the humongous success of "Game of Thrones", completely validates your point about serial dramas being overlooked my moviegoers, yet offering much more opportunity for plot and character development.

There are disappointments though, "Dollhouse" (Joss Whedon, starring Eliza Dushku), could have gone on like, forever, yet only lasted two seasons.

If Scott Bacula could act, "Quantum Leap" might have gone on forever, as the could have the Star Trek spin off where he was the captain.

Although, the writing staff of Gene Roddenberry's "Andromeda" season 5, should have bee drowned like unwanted kittens. (Man was that ever a piece of sh!t).

In any event, TV series are probably better in reruns than they are when still in production. I don't do waiting, suspense, or patience for an outcome well at all. Hence, once the series goes into syndication, every thing is resolved with a protracted binge-watch.

I know, I'm too nasty, bitter, and racist, to be good company. Forgive me please.

Epilogue: In furtherance of my OCD inspired, "binge watch philosophy", I have seasons 1 through 7 of Game of Throne bought and tucked away. (I did watch a few episodes of season 1, but the rest are sealed, until the series concludes next year). I'm not going to buy that, unless the crazy naked chick with the dragons takes the Iron Throne, period.

Um, and here's why:

That Frog like General the actor had died.. After the that the movies are boring.. Star Trek Movies same way they're gone out of control. Star Wars just keep coming out with stories and movies are not cheap to go see. Even with my 1/2 off card still like $30 bucks to get in and some popcorn and two drinks I didn't have 1/2 everything it would be $60 plus. Me and GF ouch!
