How is that any better of an evil?

Free anything usually has conditions weather implied or otherwise, "evil" is a loaded word. We have a responsibility to choose to comply, or not. If there's any 'evil' in the system isn't part it from the end users? The company is the embodiment of capitalism. The leaders are wealthy capitalist's, some are severely wealthy. Over time they simply lose sight and some of the sensibilities of normality. I don't know it's just them, maybe all of us would.

Yeah, they turn into politicians.

The only politicians that I've ever seen who have shown themselves to be trustworthy are Bernie Sanders from the USA and Jacinda Ardern from New Zealand. I believe that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will prove to be trustworthy but up until now, she hasn't really had enough power to show it. All that she's been able to do is verbally assault bad-faith actors but that's a lot more than most politicians could be bothered doing.

In Canada, I haven't seen a Prime Minister that I would consider to be "good" since Justin's dad and the man who would have been our best PM in decades (which is why he was never elected), Jack Layton, died of cancer.

RIP Jack, you were better than Canada deserved.
