Minecraft fans, rejoice! Microsoft has shared new details regarding the upcoming 0.12.1 update that has all sorts of goodies in store for both Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta and Minecraft: Pocket Edition. Here’s the complete rundown on what to expect.
The biggest new feature is without a doubt cross-platform multiplayer which will allow up to five people to play the game simultaneously over a local network on Android, iOS, Windows Phone and Windows 10 PC. What’s more, the beta edition will now allow up to five people to play together over Xbox Live.
For Minecraft: Pocket Edition, the update brings a wealth of requested catch-up features including revamped touch controls, controller support and the controller mapping screen. Mobile players will also receive the same enhanced weather effects available on the Windows 10 version such as directional rain and snowfall accumulation.
There are also new goods to build and potions to brew, Microsoft added. Furthermore, players will be able to encounter golems and ocelots as well as explore the Nether – a hell-like dimension that’s home to a wealth of hazards and items.
Last but certainly not least, the update for mobile will bring the ability to sneak and sprint.
Microsoft launched the Windows 10 version of Minecraft on July 29 alongside the arrival of its new operating system. The game remains in beta status and as most will tell you, it still feels like a watered down version of the full game found on other platforms.
