Move Files From System Partition

i have 2 drives, a caviar black 1tb and a hitachi deskstar 320gb....currently the OS is in the caviar black but i am thinking of moving it to the hitachi drive...is there any way i can exactly clone the system partition from the caviar black onto the hitachi drive without having to reinstall the OS or anything? and if there is a way, will all the installed programs work after doing that?

I use a pay version of Acronis for my cloning/backups/etc... But see here for some freeware. I've heard both Easeus Disk Copy and DriveImage XML work well. But do check all partitions on the current drive. If you see some unlabled FAT partitions they're probably a vendor's diagnostic partition (few hundred of MB) or a recovery partition (few GB). So good to clone them as well onto the drive
