Move over, NES Classic. People asked for it, we asked for it. Nintendo is now delivering. Let's just hope it comes in enough quantities, knowing how the company's launches tend to go. Nintendo has just announced the Super Nintendo Classic will be out next September 29 for $79.99. The console will come packing two SNES wired controllers and 21 games including Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Mega Man X, Final Fantasy III, and the previously unreleased Star Fox 2. The full list is right below.

As you know the NES Classic Edition was discontinued earlier this year, but not for lack of interest or demand. Nintendo has said that the popular mini console was never intended to be a permanent product, and perhaps the decision to create a follow up Classic console was the plan all along. Nintendo has also admitted misjudging how many people would actual buy the NES Classic. We hope the company doesn't make the same mistake again.

A Super Nintendo Classic could potentially prove more popular than its predecessor, which sold 1.5 million units as of February. Here's the full list of games coming with the Super Nintendo Classic:

  • Contra III: The Alien Wars
  • Donkey Kong Country
  • EarthBound
  • Final Fantasy III
  • F-ZERO
  • Kirby Super Star
  • Kirby’s Dream Course
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Mega Man X
  • Secret of Mana
  • Star Fox
  • Star Fox 2
  • Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
  • Super Castlevania IV
  • Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts
  • Super Mario Kart
  • Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
  • Super Mario World
  • Super Metroid
  • Super Punch-Out!!
  • Yoshi’s Island

Duuuude... FFIII on the SNES for NA is FFVI. If they are indeed referring to the NA release FFIII, this is something I actually want pretty bad. JPN release of FFIII would be NES so this must be FFVI.

Final Fantasy III and Earthbound? SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! Too bad they missed Chrono Trigger though!!! Scshadow: yes FF3 for snes in US is the same as FF6 in jap. Best FF game ever in my opinion.

Super Mario Kart!!!!! That was like $60 all by itself back in the day.... Of course... I could just take out my SNES that I still have in my basement...

Even though I have emulation setup with USB gamepads (NES/SNES & N64, they work great too) and 100's of games in my library, these would appeal to me if they updated the graphics. ZSNES has some awesome high res texture modes and other features that really make them look sharp/better then ever, without losing the original charm of 16bit.

Wheres DK country 2 and 3 :( hopefully someone will get more roms on this like they did the NES. and hopefully I'll actually be able to obtain one of these.

Quite shockingly poor selection of games on it. People scream rip off at everything Call of Duty does but what is this??? Besides, all those nintendo fans already bought most of these games like 3 times for their other consoles like the Wii or 3DS.

This or put a hundred roms with an emulator on a windows or android device... hm....... the ability to increase the game speed is also a godsend for RPG and other turn based games...

If nintendo was cool they'd put an SD card reader or something else like that on it. Let you buy additional games on their website and then lets you put them on your storage device and load them up into that console... or something else to expand that...

Is the cable from the cable also still so shockingly short as it was with the NES mini?

A 12 year old with a raspberry pi can come up with a far superior product than this.

Other than the game selection... which I don't think is that bad, but hey, to each their own.... what makes you think this is such a terrible device?

You have no idea what features it will have - none of us do... let's hope that cable is longer though :)

Other than the game selection it comes with, the lack of an SD card reader or USB for USB sticks comes to mind. It wouldn't be that hard to let people buy games from the Nintendo website and then put them on the SNES mini.

You really think the game selection isn't abysmal? The Snes had at least a hundred great games like for example the star wars ones or the ones the others mentioned. I loved Donkey Kong Country 3 and not having it is a total deal breaker for me. So many hidden games aren't on it either... Most of the games it comes with are boring and uninteresting because we all played them to death and most likely own them on the Wii or 3DS or Switch. They're bringing Secret of Mana for the Switch.

The poor game collection of the Snes Mini is only topped by the even poorer selection on the Switch.

Scalpers rejoice!!!

Yeah Nintendo, we hear you. With your history of the availability of Amiibos, NES classic, and Switch, we believe that there will be a lot of SNES classic on launch date.

I think the game selection is great. Link to the past, Sf2 turbo, mario kart, mario world, yoshis island, ghouls and ghosts (hard game), castlevania 4 (easy game), contra 3. Lots of fun titles and couch coop. I'll probably buy this one if I can.

Yeah yeah, we get it. You're one of those "I don't like it so it shouldn't exist" types.

Don't you have some silly, pointless protest to get to?
