Hi to all,

From december we have changed our pc's in the company and also the server to sbs 2008. All client pc's are with Windows XP professional SP3 OS. We have 6 same pc's, from which one of them crashes suddenly with no specific time or running a specific program, and to my luck this one is of my boss. I have changed also pc and the new one does again the same. In addittion i have put his pc direct to my switch in order to find out if his network is not working fine, but again after 2-3 days the same thing happened.Every time in the event log I have the specific error:

Source: System error
Category: (102)
Type : error
Event ID: 1003

Description:

Error code 100000d1, parameter1 00000006, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 b9e367d4.

I have attached the 4 last minidump files.

Any help is really appreciated.

BEst Regards

All of the minidumps point to iaStor.sys which is a Intel Sata driver. You can read some info on it here. I hope that helps.

I don't do the minidumps, but since you gave the Error from the Event Viewer:

Error code: 000000D1 (Error code 0x000000D1) -
From Microsoft: dump code may resemble:
BCCode : 000000D1 BCP1 : DBDBDBF9 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 :00000000 BCP4 :

Windows XP: The computer restarts unexpectedly, or you receive an error message in Windows XP: "Stop: 0x000000D1"

Source for Error information: Event ID.net

For your conveneience when using the Event Viewer in the future:

Start> Run> type in eventvwr

Do this on each the System and the Applications logs:

  • [1]. Click to open the log>
    [2]. Look for the Error>
    [3] .Right click on the Error> Properties>
[4]. Click on Copy button, top right, below the down arrow >
    [5]. Paste here (Ctrl V)
    [6].NOTES
    • You can ignore Warnings and Information Events.
    • If you have a recurring Error with same ID#, same Source and same Description, only one copy is needed.
    • You don't need to include the lines of code in the box below the Description, if any.
    • Please do not copy the entire Event log.

Errors are time coded. Check the computer clock on freeze.

Error format when copied will resemble this:
Date: date
Source: System
Error Time: time
Category: (102)
Type: Error
Event ID: 1003
User: N/A
Computer: COMPUTER
Description: Error code 000000D1, parameter1 parameter1, parameter2 0x00000002, parameter3 0x00000000, parameter4 0xf27b4e8e. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/, etc.

Please look for Errors in the Event Viewer that are corresponding to the time of the crashes, the freezes or whatever the current problem is. the copy and paste assures all numbers are correct and saves you having to type them in.
