My Computer will not connect to Ethernet Internet

I have never had issues connecting to the internet before (both wireless and ethernet), and now I am on campus at college and am having trouble connecting via ethernet, but not wireless. I have tried repairing, resetting the connection, restarting the computer. I have Windows Vista if that makes any difference. Like I said before, I have connected to the wireless that the school offers in other locations than my dorm, but unfortunately can not get that in my dorm, so I have to connect via ethernet.

I am looking for assistance in trying to connect.

Can you explain how you have your routers/hub/switches set up? Who is your internet provider? Does the school offer *wired* network connections?

How were you connected to the internet before?
