Netflix will have to be more financially disciplined moving forward

Well well well well, it seems the sjw woke garbage turned against them. Who would have guessed the "white man bad" message would alienate a third of the paying fans?! Bwhahaha.
I'm not even American, I'm totally pro vaccine, not a misogynistic ******* but I'm sick and tired of being blamed for everything bad on this planet as a white hetero male.
Hope it was worth it, and that you crash to the bottom for the woke crap you are making us pay for.
No passwd sharing? Bye Netflix. Ads?b Bye Netflix.

There is quality of content as in good acting and camera work etc, and then there is interesting stories. Everyone likes good quality, but not everyone likes the same stories. If you only have shows with really high number of views, you end up with all of one or two types of content and then people start dropping subscriptions who don't care about that content. For example, someone who loves sci fi and doesn't care about cop shows is going to drop if all you have is cop shows and no sci fi. It doesn't matter how good the quality is if you don't like the story. This is why I don't watch network TV. It's all cop shows and reality shows. Those draw great numbers, but not everyone is into it. If you want to keep subscriber counts up then you need to have enough content to keep everyone happy regardless of what type of content they like, rather than just cater to the content that has the most views. Keeping subscribers is different than network tv where they don't care who they advertise to and just want the biggest possible reach to pull in ad dollars.

Netflix has done ok with this so far, but they need to be careful not to screw that up. I think the subscriber loss right now is due to the price raise. A lot of people added Netflix at the start of the pandemic when they were stuck at home. When you raise the price on something, people stop and reevaluate if they still need it at the new price. This may have triggered people who added it due being stuck at home to reevaluate and determine they don't really need it anymore. Plus the weather is warming up and some people want to get outside more. But it could also be because many people's wages aren't keeping up with inflation and they just can't afford everything they use to be able to afford.

You do realize that you do not have to watch - yes?

Its not an answer. Just go to your local library. Chances are, they have what you want on DVD.

So, if you want to watch one thing, subscribe to a service for a month, watch your one thing, then cancel your subscription. Simple.
Or, if that service releases the content on DVD, wait for it to release, then borrow it from your local library. That second option requires delaying gratification. I think that is a rare trait in this day and age.

IMO, we cannot fix the issue, its the providers that are going to have to change their model. A few are learning the hard way. CNN started a streaming service, but reality slapped them squarely in the face, and they closed their streaming service a month after it started.

Local library, too.

I doubt it will go back to what it was before. Personally, I don't think Netflix will fail. Articles like these draw attention because everyone thinks OMG, Netflix is losing subscribers. Lions, tigers, and bears, OH MY!!! But the reality is that they still have more subscribers than all the other services, and if I am not mistaken, they have more subscribers than all the other services combined.

Despite what the conservatives think, I think that Netflix has more variety in content than all the other services. Perhaps our conservative friends cannot delay gratification long enough to find the content that they like.
Conservatives? what are you talking about?

Streaming needs to be simple, thats the answer. how it is now has tipped to far into complication and thats why to many piracy is a viable alternative if theyre brave enough/know how to do it.

I want to watch and pay for what I watch but I dont want another job and have to babysit a dozen subscriptions that'll end up costing more than what they replaced, have needless rules, times to watch and hidden caveats included.

there's no politics in this, im just lazy dude, and so many others are too, thats why cable lasted so long...1 bill that let you channel surf forever.

now a kodi setup with with a few tweaks and addons with a vpn is the closest way to get that back. if theres a bunch of hoops in front of me then I'll just find an easier alternative and right now this brigade of greedy "services" are those hoops.

Well, it seems everyone wants to make Netflix conversation something political... clearly, it's about greed, not "woke", "liberal" or "conservative"....

I actually prefer Plex to Kodi... but hey, whatever gets the job done :)

I need to check out plex, I've heard so many good things about it.

Yes, and find nothing. No thanks. Still some cannot resist making every issue political. Is there something wrong with pointing this out??

I thought greed is a concept that some understand very well, however, if it is just laziness, pretty soon, the dogs will be incapable of learning new tricks instead of blaming everything else for their laziness.

I also invested in a couple of good OTA tuners. There is quite a bit of stuff OTA - no internet required.

Personally, I have MediaPortal.
