No audio after headphone plugin - Windows 10

Hi there,

Just bought a new laptop 2nd hand - it's working great except, once I plug in headphones and unplug them, sound no longer comes out of the speakers until I restart the pc.

I've tried troubleshooting, checked defaults, tweaking the registry, uninstalling drivers (Realtek audio seemed to reappear automatically after restart though??) and I'm sort of out of options!

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated, thanks!

What kind of pc is it. I had an hp that did that a couple of times. You might want to check the manufacturer's website and see if they have any help. Also, there might be an updated driver that might help. Did you try a driver update when you were tshooting?

It's a Razer and I can't find any info on the website/from Googling.

As far as I can tell, all my drivers are up to date.

I think if I remember I did a repair reinstall. You won't lose your data.

Sadly I'm running a dual-boot of Windows and Mac, so that won't as intended.

Maybe you can run the repair from a disk or flashdrive.

If I am not mistaken you can run a repair on one partition on the hdd without affecting the other if both os's are on the same hdd.
