No device

I have a compaq presario f700 and whn i install the sound driver it gives me this error

driver installation failed: Could not find device for this driver


so can anyone help me out please ?

Any chance you have burned out your sound chip or card? The usual problem is that the sound device is no longer working... But if you did not update your BIOS, that could be part of the problem.
