Verizon has officially announced it will begin carrying the Nokia Lumia 2520 from Thursday, November 21 -- a day before its launch on AT&T. The Windows 8.1 RT tablet will be available online and in select stores for $400 when signing a two year service contract. This is a limited time offer according to the press release, and it's unclear when it will end, but the device is also available off contract for $500.

The tablet, announced a month back at Nokia World 2013 in Abu Dhabi, has 10.1-inch Full HD display, 6.7-megapixel rear camera, 8,000 mAh battery, 4G LTE connectivity, 32GB expandable storage, 2GB RAM, USB 3.0, and a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz. It also includes exclusive Nokia apps such as HERE maps, Storyteller, and many other pre-loaded Windows8 applications.

As for color availability, Verizon stores will stock only the black models but customers purchasing the tablet online through the carrier's website can choose between red and black. Customers can also add the tablet to their Share Everything account for $10 a month.

On the other hand, AT&T is offering the same tablet with contract at $199.99, provided that the customer also buys a Nokia Lumia smartphone. Available options include the Nokia Lumia 925, Lumia 1020 and Lumia 1520.

You can also buy the Apple iPad Air with inferior specs, less storage, no 4G LTE connectivity & a smaller screen. Essentially an inferior product all round for the same price. Go figure.

Apple's iPad Air is:

Much more portable:
- Has thinner bezel and overall size;
- Much lighter

Away for "specs", it performs better, and has better battery life. And it is just so much nicer to use than Windows 8.1

In all, I see this one inferior to iPad Air, hence the lower price. Got it. Figured ;)

It would be a boring world if all tastes & opinions were the same. While what you say makes sense, like you, I just hold a different opinion. If I were in the market, I know where my money would go.
