Intel has partnered with India-based Notion Ink to launch a new two-in-one tablet. Dubbed Cain, the device is priced at around $327 (19,990 INR), and is exclusively available via Snapdeal, one of the country's largest online retailers.
The tablet is powered by an Intel Atom Z3735D SoC, and comes with a 10.1-inch WXVGA (1280x800) IPS LCD display with 10-point multi-touch, integrated Intel HD Graphics, 2GB RAM, 32GB built in storage explandable through microSD, 2MP rear and 2MP front camera, USB 3.0 support, dual charging, integrated magnetic keyboard, and a 7900 mAh battery rated to deliver 7 hours of video playback and 10 hours of Internet surfing.
The device runs Microsoft's Windows 8.1 operating system, and comes pre-loaded with a one-year subscription to Office 365. In addition, Airtel, which is India's largest telecom operator by subscriber base, is also offering 500MB free data for six months for those buying the device.
"Notion Ink Design Labs believes in thoroughly studying and understanding user experience and developing a solution for it", said Notion Ink CEO Rohan Shravan, adding that the Cain is a result of the same philosophy and delivers a unique value proposition of rolling two devices into one sleek form factor without compromising user experience.
Founded in 2009, Notion ink first hit the headlines in 2010, when it launched the Adam tablet, which was widely touted as an iPad Killer. However, the device was a big flop. It's successor, the Adam II, was also met with the same fate.
