Im not sure if i posted my ? in the area I am new to techspot. I need help on how after I did a system recovery I get the command to press ctrl alt del becasue ntldr is compressed when i press that it comes right back to the same thing. if anyone can help i would appreciate it. Unfortunately I do not have any back up disks, or recovery I did put in as much as I had and it all loads up when I first start the pc but after it goes directly to the same NTLDR is compressed Press Ctrl Alt Del to restart.
thank you

Unfortunately in my experience (no so much) you need the windows disk to recover.

If you had the recovery disk you would boot to that go to the recovery console and then type.

Code:
cd \
attrib -c ntldr
exit

That usually fixes it. However with you not having the recovery disk you will probably need to purchase windows again.
However if anyone has another way then it be interested as well.

btw: the moral to this is:
Never compress the following directories:
  • \windows
  • \windows\system32
  • nor ANY file located at c:\*

Ah ok so what would your alternative be?
Just intrigued that's all :)
alternative to what -- shrinking disk space used?

first choice is to obliterate the scruff collected when surfing the Internet
for every login id on the system
  • run->cleanmgr.exe
it will take several minutes and then list 4/5 categories where junk files are located and estimate the total size that can be freed.

click ok and that stuff will be deleted :)
