Was about to post similar but from this side of the pond (Vega 56 available from £249.99) .

Sweet GPU for the price, early ones will be inflated as usual but when the channel fills with stock I am sure there will be choices at MSRP. The best part of this card is also that Vega 56 is now available at this price level! AMD sent out a press release a couple hours before the 1660Ti officially launched. Strong competition.

Wow, who would have thunk it! Strong competition in the midrange benefitting the consumer. Either of these cards is a nice step up from RX580/GTX1060 choices that dominated the midrange the past few years. Minimum 30 percent faster. This segment has been highly stagnant since mid 2016 if you analyse it, nearly 3 years! Far too long.

However Vega 56 and 1660Ti both now push the mid range beyond anything any console can deliver. They are excellent 1080p GPUs, and very good 1440p ones to boot.

Bottom line is the consumer wins with either.

No it's not. That 279$ price was from a retailer who was looking forward to clear out the unsold stock(2/3 piece) of that trash Vega 56 version. And AMD turned that into a marketing scheme and spread the misconception of their cards now being 279$. Heck of a marketing strategy. Take notes nvidia. Btw,Vega 56 still costs 400$+.(copied)

This looks to be by far the best option for those who are looking for a new mid range champ.

Check out the Palit StormX. The 1660ti die is small enough to work well with ITX.

Thanks for the comprehensive review.

Nice to see a new sub-$300 card that really advances the performance of this price segment. Makes me hopeful for its siblings, the rumored 1660 and 1650. I'll be waiting to see what response AMD has. Not that I think it can release anything equivalent, but price cuts would help positioning, and for the lower end, AMD still has the option of releasing a cut down Polaris 30.

The margins alone are probably not that great on Vega cards with what went into building it, so a permanent price drop would hurt AMD. If the margins were good, they would have dropped 56 pricing after the 1070 Ti launched.

The price is too close to 2060 rtx and I think that many typical gamers and buyers in general will chose 2060.

Google game streaming coming next month and let's see how is goes. It could be a slow dead to dedicate PC gaming rig.

Here in my country the cheapest one costs 310€, while RTX 2060 is 370€. For 60€ difference I would rather go RTX 2060 route, wich overclocks like a champ and is only a tad slower than a GTX 1080ti. GTX 1660ti would make sense at 260€-270€ max. Not 310€.

Gigabyte 1660 Ti Gaming OC vs RTX 2060 Gaming OC I'm looking at 70eur price difference (300e vs 370e). I think the 1660 Ti is the more balanced option of the 2 since it has lower power consumption --> lower fan noise and lower PSU requirement. Also you can flash to other 1660 Ti bios with 140w power limit for additional OC headroom. All in all the 1660 Ti is a champ for 1080p gaming.

STick wiv wot you got and get the next gen. RT and DLSS will either be a thing or not , and I doubt NV will release any cards without it (if its still going). This looks to good value , and NV delayed the launch as long as they could, to sell off as many rtx2060 as possible.
Their stock has bounced back, so if you bought the dip , Gudonya ....

Lmao, so my $279 Vega 56's that came with 3 games I was able to dump on SteamGameSwap reddit for $90 making the card essentially $189 is the way to go lmao. Also hit the lottery with both cards I ordered having Samsung memory, vega64 bios flash and ubdervolt here I come.

So glad I decided to skip the 1660ti, imo it need to be closer to $250 otherwise if Vega stays at current price levels no reason to buy it.

Only if they acknowledge ray tracing is a failure, and stop pursuing its development. It is possible but that would be a nail in RT's coffin.
