Pc wont start after install new HD

Hi,

I just installed a new WD blue 1TB hard drive into my DELL computer. after I had installed windows 7 and drivers, it shut down randomly. I try to do a dell diagnostics , but it shutdown during the diagnostic test. now it will not boot and it makes loud noise (sounds like vacuum cleaner).

Dell XPS 8500, OEM Windows 7 64-bit installed, nvidia geforce GT640.

Can someone assist me step by step? thank you in advance!

Identify the specific location of the 'vacuum cleaner' sound (new HD?, PSU?, fan?, speakers?, etc).

Remove that.

Replace it with something which is known to work (old HD for the new HD, etc)

Once your system is working again, try to reinstall the 'vacuum cleaner' part in a secondary capacity.

If you can, test it and let us know result.

If you can't, find another working system and try to install the 'vacuum cleaner' part in a secondary capacity.

If you can, test it and let us know result.

My fans spin fast when I do not have the operating system in control of fan speed - so I think it is just a symptom. Be sure that you don't have wires getting up against the spinning blades.

Does your old HD have OS on it still? Can you go back to your old HD? Can you boot the system from the old HD?
