6. Download, and install WOT (Web OF Trust): http://www.mywot.com/. It'll warn you (in most cases) about dangerous web sites.

7. Run defrag at your convenience.

8. Read How did I get infected?, With steps so it does not happen again!: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic2520.html

9. Please, let me know, how is your computer doing.

Did everything. The computer behaves and is lightning fast!! Thank you SO MUCH!!! The only thing is that my sound did not come back - the built-in laptop speakers are still not working. I tried plugging in a head set and it is the same thing – no sound. I am not sure if it is related to the malware problem, but I lost sound right around the same time my computer started acting up. What do you think?

I'm glad to hear good news :)

Regarding your sound, try to reinstall your sound driver. Some file(s) got possibly corrupted by the infection.

Hi Broni

I reinstalled the sound driver from Gateway's site and my sound came back. Everything works great now. I can't thank you enough!!! You REALLY make a difference! Take care.
