Processor differences

I am building a laptop and I am struggling with the processors speed and performance The 2 I am looking at are the AMD Quad core A10 9620 or the i5 8250 the AMD is HP the I=5 is a Dell Would like know the good and bad of each Thanks

Well, let me see if I understood u correctly. As far as processors go the I5-8250u is superior in power to the AMD A10 9620. Mainly we would be talking about single threaded performance and multi threaded performance which in this case the I5-8250u wins easily. AMD APU comes with a decent Integrated GPU but if the laptop you have in mind has a dedicated GPU I'd completely look past the APU. On other hand the APU should be cheaper so it truly depends on your price point even though u could probably find better Processors than the A10 9620 at that bracket anyway.

If we base the facts on only CPU performance go with the I5 8250u ,if u want a processor similar to the APU but better id take a look at the ryzen chips mainly processors such as the amd ryzen 2500u,2700u.At the current time the AMD a10 9620 you mentioned should probably not even be considered as its been surpassed by newer tech.
