Rca dcm425 cable modem

i need to knwo why this rca dcm425 modem causes an error saying that a cable is unplugged for a few seconds and then goes away even though i dont lose connection, also sometimes while i am sitting on mIRC i will get disconnected and it says it was due to a software connection abort

alos where in my registry can i modify to help my speed ? im supposed ot have 10 meg and im only getting max of 4meg on a good day

im thinking that this modem they gave me is a pile of dung
