Re-installing XP

Wondering if anyone can help me here, I'm needing to format my hard drive because it's got so many viruses and things wrong with it but when I put the XP disc in and boot it, the Blue WIndows Setup screen is Blank, the bar along the bottom scrolls through hundreds of things and then says "Starting Windows" and it just stays the same after that. Anyway around this to clean the hard drive and re-install XP?

Im at work just now and can't download programs to my computer and my PC at home (THe infected one) won't connect to the net (One of the reasons i'm clearing it and starting from scratch again)

Any suggestions would be appreciated

obviously it is booting off your hard disc first instead of your CD. Change your boot order in BIOS, you should then be able to boot off your XP CP and reformat and reinstall your OS.
