Hi all. i have just upgraded my pc to a gigabyte x58 motherboard and using realtek HD Audio. i have a problem where an irritating high pitched screeching sound is being played to my speakers. its not the speakers themselves as before i used a sound blaster audigy with no interference sound. also noticed it seems to be coming from the computer itself as when navigating from program to program or e.g pressing back or forward in a web browser the noise stops for a split second and then continues. any clues?

I just installed my sound blaster and its doing the same thing!!!?:

The noise is not presnt until entering into windows itself. as the comp is idle it is constant but when something is loading it tends to stop till idle again.
During games it seems to decrease alot and is hardly noticable.

Justinone, can you record the sound and post a link to it here?
It would help to diagnose what's going on.

I have fixed the problem. i read on overclock.net forums that it was to do with the vcore being to high. it was the sound from the processor into my speakers. all i did was manually set the vcore to 1.2000 and the sound was gone! :D
