Robuste Hardware with minimum wear

I'm looking for a hardware platform for a sort of embedded system.
It should run a Linux flavor (undefined at the moment) and have preferrably no rotating parts (except for fans maybe) (so no harddisks).
I was thinking of a pcmcia flash drive for OS and applications, and a RAM drive for logs etc.
Not sure what kind of processing power I will need.. guessing P III at 1 GHz should be enough for now (or equivalent).

Any info on this kind of hardware is welcome!

Regards,

Koen

Virtually every ready-made embedded platform satisfies your current plans..

Does it have to be a PC? What peripherals do you need supported? What software (besides the OS) is it going to run? What is the device going to do?
