The sanctions are applied by countries that don't produce much. Asia, Africa and South America already provide Russia anything they need.

Now talking about the idea of producing locally, it sounds like what everybody should do. Europe and North America have lost most of their production and need all the time to import, that makes them weak.

I've been in the lithography "bidness" since 1980. In addition to installing new equipment I've watched those "smaller" companies buy used equipment and try to install it and then use it. If Russia were even able to buy used litho equipment they would need to have the skill set to install it and then actually make it work. I present a broken leg and strong solvent fumes in a small chip fab in Silicon Valley and an example of an unlikely success path.

They will just get everything through China... they are buds and have been for a long time. China is a up and coming power house in the world and the U.S. has enabled this. Trump may be a a$$hat clown but he was right about one thing, we shouldn't be dependent on China and should be making our own stuff. I've been seeing it for years now. I was even homeless about 6 or 7 years ago. Yes, we are hurting ourselves from this, but like anything it'll take some adaptation. Russia might adapt, but they may hit a poverty level so low that it will take them a century to get back to normal again. We aren't in that kind of position... yet.

Sorry I wasn't probably clear enough. I wasn't comparing western countries and Russia or China, as sometimes prejudice would make people feel their culture or living place is superior to others. I was just talking about the impact of sanctions on the economies and the price of gasoline in itself is enough to prove part of my point.

Hopefully he will die soon but Russia won't be defeated - 7000 nukes will defend them. They have the most nukes of any country. Most advanced + biggest ones too.
