Samsung on Tuesday sent out media invitations to its next Unpacked event where it will unveil the Galaxy Note 7.

Samsung’s current Note flagship, the Galaxy Note 5, arrived on August 21, 2015. Rumors leading up to this point suggested Samsung would skip the Galaxy Note 6 naming convention and jump right to the Note 7 in an effort to better align it with its other Galaxy flagship, the Galaxy S7.

As Samsung explained earlier today, that’s exactly the case as the company wants to unify its product portfolio.

Apple is also set to unveil the iPhone 7 this fall which may have been yet another motivating factor to skip the number six. Of course, Samsung didn’t come out and admit as much but I digress.

The Galaxy Note 7 will break cover on August 2 at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event in New York City. The event is scheduled to kick off at 11:00 a.m. EDT and will be livestreamed online. Samsung will host simultaneously launch events in Rio de Janeiro at noon local time and in London at 4:00 p.m. local time.

Speaking of Rio, Samsung last week announced the Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition smartphone which it will give to each of the 12,500 Rio Olympians so they’ll be able to communicate with friends and family around the world during the Games.

Well this Note better be pretty impressive or I'm just going to stick to my Note 5. Though I must admit, if there is a MicroSD slot, I still might upgrade. One thing is a must in my opinion, it needs a larger battery. My Note 5 does not even compare to my old Note 4 in terms of battery life. Maybe it's Android draining the battery, maybe it's just the phone itself. I don't know, but I'm not happy with the battery life of the Note 5.

So far Note 4 is the king , if this one has 6GB RAM, NVME storage, removable battery and this new faster SD card slot it will be king and will make me upgrade.

Wont have the new SD card slot, maybe the next upgrade will have it, but not now. Technology is to new for this phone. removable battery and 6 GB RAM would be nice.
