Sling TV is expanding its reach today with the launch of an app for Xbox One. As the first game console to support the over-the-top TV service, Xbox One users are being offered two limited-time offers to try Sling TV for free.

Existing Xbox One owners that download the Sling TV app will receive one month of service free of charge, courtesy of Microsoft. Additionally, the first 5,000 customers to buy an Xbox One through a Microsoft retail store or online at MicrosoftStore.com between March 17 and March 22 will receive three free months of Sling TV service.

Both offers apply only to new Sling TV subscribers.

Naturally, one isn’t expected to run out and buy a new high-end gaming console for the sole purpose of getting a few months of service for free. But if you were already planning to buy an Xbox One, it can’t hurt to take advantage of a good deal.

In related news, Sling TV also announced a couple of changes coming to their programming lineup.

The company will be adding four A+E Networks channels – A&E, History, H2 (short for History 2) and Lifetime – to its $20 core package by the end of the month which will bring the total number of networks in the core package to 20.

Sling TV is also introducing two new add-on packages, “Lifestyle Extra” and “World News Extra” with each priced at an additional $5 per month. The Lifestyle Extra pack includes truTV (just in time for March Madness), Cooking Channel, DIY and WE tv with FYI and LMN to be added soon. The World News Extra features Bloomberg TV, HLN, Euro News, France 24, NDTV 24/7, News 18 and Russia Today.

With the two new packages, Sling TV is doing away with its original News & Info Extra as the channels in that package are now offered across the two new packages (plus additional channels). Those currently subscribed to the News & Info Extra add-on will be offered both new bundles for just $5.
