So you only have PCI slots and want to game?

Hey guys, I just registered because I saw this was a great forum so far. This forum has useful advice (like this thread) that none of the others even hinted about! Thanks for the great post vnf4ultra. But, I wanted to know, can the PCI 6200 play Final Fantasy XI? I care not if it's on low end resolution and stuff, I just want it to play! If it wont run, what WILL it run on?

(I spent the last few weeks trying tons of ways to make it work, until I noticed I had a PCI..)

Thanks in advance!

CPU / Processor - Intel Pentium 4 processor.
Memory (RAM) - 256 MB RAM.
Graphics Card - NVIDIA GeForceFX series graphics processing unit (AGP)
with 64MB of VRAM.

It doesn't seem to have very high system requirements, so I'd say it should be able to run it. The pci 6200 would be one series above the "fx" series listed in the recommended specs. The pci 6200 also comes in 128mb or 256mb, either would be enough to play according to the specs. Make sure you have a fast enough system processor and enough system memory also.

Hey guys. Thanks again for the advice.. but, now, I have yet another problem..

The graphics card doesnt seem to work, or, the computer is just being troublesome.

I installed my new ATI Radeon 9250 PCI (256 MB) graphics card, that I just bought today (so much easier..) and when I finally got all the installations done, I restarted my computer!

But, voila, another error message. Except, this one contained the error "ATI Driver not installed, or not working properly, so the ATI Control Panel must close."

Great. So, after that, I downloaded the necessary drivers, and then, no more error! But, now, another error seems to haunt me.

When I switch over to my new ATI Radeon from the integrated 845 graphics card thats on my motherboard already, when the monitor boots back up from the change in cards, all it shows is a black screen. No mouse. No icons. Nothing.

I tried restarting the system at least three times, but to no avail. You guys know what's wrong?

It is, i ordered today, ill post feedback. Anyone want a 5500FX LOL, for sale.

Let me know how it goes. If you post back your specs, and benchmarks, I might update the first post to include your benchmarks for comparison. Actually, it might be kind of cool if we could get benchmarks compiled of multiple pci video cards(6200, x1300, fx5500, fx5200, fx5700le, 9200, 9250, etc) and have a "pci benchmark chart." I've never seen that done before. We'd have to standardize on a benchmark though, like 3dmark05 or Aquamark3 to do it.

I have aquamark. Lets do that. Ill benchmark with my 5500FX, my specs are in my sig. Anyone with a differant card besides the 6200 or X1300, or 5500FX, post back so we can get some stats together. Ill post benchmarks with non overclocked 5500FX and overclocked 5500FX. If you could do the same with your 6200 (If you feel its safe) that would be awesome.

X1300PCI is sold out people lol. Good thing i got mine when i did, they will be back in stock september 18.

It looks like the X1300 will be very succesful. It should trash the 9550, the 9200, and the 6200.

But it's a little expensive for a PCI card :suspiciou

We'll see the quality when i get it. Ill do a review. And im gonna see how cool it is because im gonna overclock it :) Its coming on wednesday.

hmmm... wat a nice card for PCI, change my mind of changing new mobo xD

btw... any recomendation site for buying the card internationally? cuz most of the online store i found only provided shipping within US.

thanks...

Notice the clocks i put, my extreme overclock lol. I will redo tomorrow for more consistent results. I only played 2 games w/ each resolution.

im guessing that means that it doesn't lag (beyond the normal) and is playable? i'd like to be able to play CSS :p... though the LOW isn't too pleasing... it's still playable so.. eh...

whats it like on higher settings.. when does it become beyond playability?

Umm, it isnt really visually noticeable that you have it on low, because i am busy playig the game lol. It is pretty good on 800x600 medium across the board, except low on reflection and shadows. But dont get this card, it isnt good compared to an overclocked 6200, or the X1300.

X1300, good overclocker. I can now use AA, but i know my processor is holding it back, i need a Skt 478 P4.

521 Core/650 memory. Probably too high for the bus bandwith lol.

My aquamark3 fails for some reason after the "Massive Overdraw" test. DOsnt matter if its overclocked or not, its got to be compatibility between the prog, and my GFX card. What is another program we could use to compare? But performance before that blows away the 5500FX. I dont like 3mark0 or w/e btw, i get like 4 fps lol.

If you wanna run a 3dmark where you dont lag like hell, try running good ole' 3dmark2001! Most modern machines crank out about 25000 3dmarks or more from it so give it a shot and you will probably still get about 3000 or so.

I got 7014, with a Celeron D, so if you use a processor similar, we can compare them accurately.

This is on 521/648 Core/Mem

I havent OC'ed it yet to its full potential,im working on it :)

I got 7520 with a 100mhz OC on Core and Memory O.o I'm not going any further, but the quality of the HSF is great.
