Following in the footsteps of Microsoft and Samsung, Sony has announced plans to install mini-stores inside 350 Best Buy retail locations starting this month. Known as the Sony Experience at Best Buy, the store-within-a-store concept will be staffed with Best Buy employees that have been trained to peddle Sony's goods.

The focus of the Sony Experience will be on the home theater category according to a press release on the matter. Each shop will feature interactive demonstration areas designed to showcase the manufacturer’s latest products.

The retail space will highlight a full 4K Ultra HD solution for consumers which includes Sony’s 4K Ultra HD TVs, 4K Ultra HD media players and 4K HandyCam camcorders. The experience area will also showcase home theater sound solutions including sound bars as well as gaming centered on the PlayStation 4.

The mini-stores come just months after Sony announced plans to close the majority of their retail stores in the US. Of the 31 retail stores the company operates, 20 will be shutting down by the end of the year in a move that Sony said will streamline costs and allow them to continue to focus on existing partner relations.

Sony is the latest in a string of electronics manufacturers to open mini-stores inside Best Buy retail locations. Samsung announced intentions to open 1,400 Samsung Experience Shops a year ago with Microsoft opening 600 of their own stores inside Best Buy last summer.

With all of these changes inside of Worst Buy they will be a shell of their former selves. Now, hopefully Sony will have their own employees working their section of the store and not those blue-shirt wearing, know-nothing, useless warranty-pushing *****s.

I don't buy warranty from Best Buy and didn't care for it be pushed at checkout by the cashier. Best Buy only around because everything other electronic warehouse is pretty much gone. Vendors trying to peddle there electronic products at Best Buy is poor excuse. They have been doing this down here for about year now, Apple Vendor, Samsung, HP and now you say SONY. No point to do so. Economy is bad enough, prices of these newer techs cost a lot more.

Best Buy could end up like Circuit City and the rest that are no longer around. Walmart, Target and Kmart along with SEARS have they're electronic departments. Online has a stronger presence since can tap into any vendor all over country to get your items that's no longer available in B&M (Brick and Mortar) stores.

Best Buy is great! Great for me to poop on! Triumph the dog will agree, because Bestbuy's all around the country are now crap and have gone downhill from ten years ago. They used to be built around great service as they're differentiation in service, but now they're service is generally terrible. Don't go there expecting to be helped easily and if you are helped don't expect knowledgeable sales people. Do your own research, go to Bestbuy to demo the product in person, then buy the item cheaper elsewhere.

Lol, my previous suspicion that Best Buy will be bought by Samsung/Microsoft has come to an end.
Best Buy is now in a good position to accept whatever marketing gimmicks device manufactures concoct.
