Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl GPU Benchmark

"Although the game supports FSR and DLSS frame generation, we did not include those in this analysis."

Stopped reading right here, you need to include these, because at least Nvidia Frame Generation is literally the best thing to happen to gaming since DLSS, and those that call it fake frames are just laughable and need to be committed quite honestly, but ya'll continue to believe what you want, while I enjoy games at 100% max settings with all RT at over 120fps and livin' the dream.

Finally found a game that uses my 3950x 16 core’s and the CPU seems to be the limiting factor even with and old 2080 S.

It seems an unoptimised mess to me. Graphics when turned down to run the game, are worse than the 15+ year old games that came before it. And obviously they ran on some very limited hardware.

Not totally disappointed, knew it would be full of bugs. Just waiting on the modders to fix it like the last 3 games
Indeed, In fact... fully modded Stalker 1(with the ,more grass/nature and texture mods) make the game look almost modern while running at 4K 60 fps. I legit think it looks almost as good as Metro Exodus at places and parts. I showed some pics to my friends, and they even ask if its from the new Stalker 2 game. I said no, its from that super old game. The new 1 on low settings looks horrible in comparison. IDK if its the Unreal engine 5 or what but yeah.

For reference Metro exodus ran on a 15 year old i7 980xe at 4.3 ghz at maximum settings 3440x1440p 60 fps with 1080ti ftw hybrid.. 🤪

I prebought the game because it was $35. Gamers are paying full price to be a paid beta testers. I believe there is a huge patch coming today that should improve 1000plus bugs or that might have been day one patch. Either way there is one update coming today so hopefully they improve performance and NPCS behavior/ spawn. ( My game had NPC spawn commit suicide after I flexed my new sniper rifle without firing a single shot)
At veteran difficulty.

Im convinced the pc gaming and hardware market is broken and doomed for a massive pullback

Could you imagine if a game released and performed well on mid range hardware? Developers would make tons on software purchases

As we all suspect, instead it seems they look for less sales and more money from hardware “sponsors”

Game looks super detailed, but give me an f-ing break, 1080p ultra with a 4090 results in 102fps????

With my 6800XT I get 71+fps on epic, native, 1440p resolution, with only shadows, fog and foliage set to high, which are still high quality in-game. PRESET testing is useless in modern day when you can get decent results if you know what to tweak. also I get 130+ fps if I activate FSR FG.

I am very much enjoying the game, and I am hoping by the time the game is "done" I'll be primed for a 2nd playthrough. I would encourage everyone who enjoyed the earlier games to purchase it and get back out into the zone!

I totally agree with you, something has to give in the industry soon. So many games are coming out that require insane hardware specs while still running poorly for a year or more after launch. These new games are offering marginal improvements over games from 5 or more years ago while requiring orders of magnitudes better hardware. I get that if you are running at 4K, but in a game like this we are talking about 1080p.

As someone who started coding in the early days of 8 bit computers using various languages and did so all through the 90's, right up until a few years ago. The performance of these newer games tells me that either these new games are terribly unoptimised (poor coding) OR they are deliberately made to run so poorly, so as to drive higher end GPU sales.
I couldn't for the life of me think of who could be "encouraging" this though. I mean, who would want to drive the public to buy more powerful GPU's with some form of upscaling?
I wonder if there's a lot of brown envelopes being passed around these days, again.
What I was thinking too. On first impression, this game looks no better than games from pre covid. RDR2, Cyberpunk look better and somehow the bare minimum needed is a 3060? I haven't been gaming on PC since my 1060 kinda lost steam but damn could it still run everything fine. There must be some serious changes in the operation pipeline on this engine either for AI upscaling or something like that. Still does not make sense to me.

What really doesn't make sense is that the rx6800xt can match or in some cases beat the 4060ti. I need to watch a review between the two. Little limited on time so hard to find time sometimes. I always say that big companies are their own worst enemy. Obviously, the 4090 is still king but it is more than double the price of the 7900 XTX. Here even the 4080 are more expensive by quite a lot.

This should be called STALJER; more like a crappy version of Metro series thsn of its namesake forbears. Perfformance is pretty disappointing as well.

With patch 1.0.1 , no difference for my system , never had a issue , 4090 -4K EPIC DLAA-FG , in villages with NPC , 70 to 85 FPS , FG big uplift , 30 fps boost steady ,FG also uses more memory , 5950X CPU vs what I seen from other YT with 4090 -9800X3D ,same town and settings , its all 4090 .
