Techspots weird obsession with hating on 8GB cards is growing tiresome. They have a place in the market and I am glad they are available. The company I work for buys graphics cards for 3D dental scanners. These machines need to have quite powerful processors, but they don't need even 8GB of VRAM and I don't want to have to start charging our customers more for parts because the minimum config is 16GB. Not everything is about the average frame rate of the latest games at their maximum settings.
This article focusing only on 1440p is a huge red flag. Many buyers of these parts will be at 1080p and in previous reviews the difference at 1080p has proven to be minimal, even in Techspots own data. Techspot should test both always regardless of noises made by the marketing companies of these parts. Showing the 1080p results here would probably show that actually there is a case for the 8GB variant which would go directly against what Techspot have not shut about for months. I say months because there are articles on Techspot less than a year old recommending 8GB parts for consumers at both 1440p and 1080p resolutions (id love to know what changed).
To me it feels like Techspot is desperately looking for a reason to hate on these companies.
