WTF?! Do you have an ancient GPU lying around somewhere that hasn't seen the inside of a PC for a decade? There's no need to throw it away or sell it on eBay: you could turn it into a hideous handbag and try to sell it for over $1,000.

Unlikely as it sounds, someone really is selling an alleged fashion item that is just a plastic purse with some gold trimming and a GT 730 encased in resin inside it. If that isn't appealing enough, the bag also has a Gigabyte-branded case fan glued to the outside that spins.

The handbag is priced at a bargain $1,024 on the gpupurse.com website. The GT 730 cost up to $80 when it launched in 2014, and you can find them today on auction sites for as little as $20. In fairness to the maker of this purse, they do point out that the bag "fits a phone," which should tempt anyone with over $1,000 to burn. It's also a limited edition – the creator says they are making ten more in the next few weeks – and it comes with either a long or short chain.

With that price tag, one would expect the purse to at least feature a more expensive GPU. Well, the website does have another item featuring a very expensive Nvidia product: the H100, which costs around $25,000 - $30,000 on average. GPU Purse is selling a handbag featuring this data center GPU for a stunning $65,536.

"Purse that has a rare one of a kind gpt-4 training gpu," reads the H100-based item's description. There's also a suspicious lack of images showing this purse, meaning buyers will require plenty of faith and/or stupidity.

Likely keeping with the computer theme, the handbag prices are in powers of two (2^10 for the GT 730, 2^16 for the H100). It's unlikely many people will find the bags more appealing as a result.

If you're looking for a purse for that special someone who loves all things tech, there's always the Honor V purse – a folding phone that doubles as a clutch bag. You can get one for around $900, too.

First one to spot a YouTube Tech influencers Girlfriend, out with one, should win a prize and publicly shame the said influencer for spending our hard earned clicks on such tacky crap.

Art isn't always meant to be aesthetically pleasing. And fashion at that level is considered more art than utility. But with that said "GPU bags" takes fashion to a new low IMHO. That more than likely means that it'll take off. Making shoes with encased RAM/CPUs the next on the list. I shudder to think where it will all end...
