The Best PC Games (You Should Be Playing)

Uhh....list is compromised big time.

Dragon Age is a terrible game. Boring, repetitive, horrible acting by some of the characters, cringe writing and stupid puzzles. It feels like it was made for 7 year olds.

And they shoehorned social issues in the game in the most cringe way ever.

Even without the stupid cringe woke stuff the game is a 5/10 at best.

The people reviewbombing those titles use woke as a pejorative. They aren't to be taken seriously.
Have you played this turd of a game?
Did you see how they did the non binary stuff? The problem here isn't that there are non binary people in the game, it's that they did it in the most cringe and virtue signaling way you could imagine. This is why it's called woke and it absolutely deserves the hate it gets. Aside from being a bad game it's woke in the worst way possible. People ignoring this fact are the ones who shouldn't be taken seriously. It's like people have become so brainwashed that they can't see the obvious.

Working my way towards Shadow of the Erdtree, can't help but do everything I possibly can in Elden Ring. Space Marine 2 and Black Myth Wukong both interest me, but my backlog is pretty big. Plus, I just finished modding Fallout 3 and New Vegas and am starting both of those up soon.

I am playing Dragon Age: The Veilguard on Steam right now. It's a complete hoot. You could choose not to hate? I would certainly like you more if you weren't hating on the LGBTQIA+ community?

From MetaCritic:
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 - 8.1 (User score)
Tactical Breach Wizards - 8.0
Helldivers 2 - 7.4
Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred - 4.0
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 - 6.8
Balatro - 8.3
Silent Hill 2 - 9.2
Black Myth: Wukong - 8.3
Dragon Age: The Veilguard - 3.8
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree - 8.1

Looks like Diablo IV and Dragon Age should not have made the list......
Does it matter, the ratings etc? I make my own choice. I'm an old dragon age player. I'm playing vanguards and I'm loving it. Gameplay and graphics rocks. It's more like Kingdom of amalur. People are angry because it's out doesn't feel much like a dragon age game. They've messed up the story part

For you it is then. Yeah, it's lacking a good story like dragon age origins but hey, to me Soul game sucks..I don't see how they charge so much for so little work. No story except lore, 90s style gameplay mechanics, bad graphics. From software don't need to work much but they charge the full amount. boss fights are fun. challenging games are fun when you've got lots of free time. Everyone's choice is different pal. Everyone's thinks differently.. Don't criticize the game I love and don't let me criticize the game you love. That's what I'm trying to say

I said nothing hateful about lgbt. I said the devs implemented it in the worst way, and that's exactly what they did. I even said there was nothing wrong with having a non binary person in the game.

And then you say I'm hateful and you don't like me.

Can you not see you are exactly what you're accusing me of?

Well if you like the game that's good. I don't care if you criticize a game I like. Freedom to share opinions is a good thing. Personally I think dragons dogma 2 is a far far better game.
Veilguard is a bad game in most ways. Just my opinion.

-Yep, in fact the rating discrepancy is all the more reason to wait for a sale and then give it a shot (esp if you're am old DA fan).

Don't be a baby bird, letting others regurgitate their thoughts into your mind.

If you were never interested, fine. If you were, then try it and form your own damn opinion. And at that point it's fine if the opinion is bad and every negative thing said about the game is true or not.

Were the bullet points for Diablo IV left over from some other game? They don't seem like they apply to Diablo IV -- but may be describing something more fun?

Bias in what direction? Over time the likelihood is that the bias will cancel out. Ultimately it is the best we have to work with.
No, bias doesn't cancel out over time. You are thinking of statistical noise.

Consider an obvious example to make this clear: a survey of racists on race relations: would you expect a larger sample of racists or surveying them over time to cancel out the bias in their answers to no longer be racist? No of course not.

Now, setting aside all of the myriad normal human biases that can mess with surveys (that psychologists, sociologists, and business researchers have to work very hard to deal with), user scores for games have the issue of not actually scoring the game. Users can be mad about the price, the game shipping late, the CEO of the company saying something political, the same game studio canceling development on their favorite series, etc. Further, people online often get excited about the latest craze which can include dunking on a particular game even if they haven't played it or sometimes even knowing why other people are dunking on it. That's why we coined review bombing.

Sometimes, review bombing is gameplay-related: e.g., the game is so buggy it is no fun. Other times, it is somewhat related: e.g., this one time in the dialog they said woke stuff - 0 stars! And others, unrelated: e.g., their CEO is voting for X - burn the entire studio!

I'm in no way a big fan of the souls games or that style of game where you want to throw your controller across the room. That said Elden Ring is in a completely different league from Dragon Age Veilguard.
Elden Ring's world is second to none. It's diverse in every way..from the bosses to the zones and exploration. It's an incredible game....but it's also hard as hell. The world is dark and gritty and art direction is amazing. The combat is also far better than Veilguard. There is a reason it's loved the way it is. And it's expansion is now set to possibly clean house with awards. Yeah the story doesn't hold your hand like other games and I really didn't even care about it to be honest.
But it blows my mind how people can ignore the ridiculous writing and acting in veilguard. The childish attitude of the game. The puzzles that are completely braindead. It's also fairly linear. To me that is way too distracting to enjoy. I feel like I'm playing something designed for daycare.

"I said nothing hateful about lgbt."
Yeah, you did, here it is, again, and you called people supportive of it, "brainwashed." I used to be just like you with my older brother, who is gay. Then I grew up and stopped hating.

No, you're twisting what I said.
I did not say people who support lgbt are brainwashed. I said that people who can't see the obvious things, such as the terrible way that bioware implemented lgbt in veilguard, are brainwashed. If you can watch all the videos of the conversations in veilguard and can't see how cringe it is then yeah...you're likely over the top brainwashed. This has almost become a religion for people at this point.
I have nothing against anyone. I don't hate anyone for any reason. But I am honest.

The list gets worse and harder to take seriously the more you read.

Diablo? Uhm, okay I guess.

Black ops, what?

Veil guard! Okay, at this point the paid advertising/AI article/troll post was obvious.

"Compelling characters"? great storytelling? Suuuuuuuure, on opposite day maybe.

It sounds like someone (or something) just grouped a list of recent releases or top sold.

It's reviewing well in many places. https://www.engadget.com/gaming/dragon-age-the-veilguard-is-beautiful-in-every-way-193013807.html

I'm sorry but these reviews praising the game are just ridiculous. I bought the game even knowing that it had shoehorned social issues in it. It just isn't a great or really even good. Notice a ton of reviewers all used the same terminology? "Return to form" ......rigght. Really makes me wonder about the reviewers.
I just don't trust the "professionals" anymore at all. Especially IGN.

I've been playing Medieval Dynasty. I have been liking it so far, and I think it stands out in the survival/manage resources games. The world of Oxbow you survive and build in, is truly beautiful.

No, I am a 56 year old adult running my own business. You sound very young? Misguided too. Now stop hating on others. Grow up.\

EDIT for TechSpot: How much longer are you going to allow the LGBTQIA+ hate to continue in these forums? The discourse here is at an all time low. If you think I am the problem, just say so and I will leave.

lol...
What are you even talking about?

And your reference to techspot is comical.
I never once said anything derogatory about lgbt anything lol. You didn't like my opinion so you're acting offended and being dramatic.
I hate to tell you this but I'm not the one who needs to grow up.

So happy to see Space Marine 2 do so good! Hopefully this will encourage studios to make more Space Marine games...I'm looking at you CA for a Totalwar: Warhammer 40k game!!

Yeah, they are all owned by the same entities. Look up the whole "mainstream media all saying the same stuff" video. No reason for them not to use such a powerful medium with giant audience to manipulate people, especially when you see the developers themselves are against it.

Until they find a way to hijack user reviews (probably with bots), that's what I use to find if a game is good and what issues it has. Can't rely on conglomerate media even for game reviews these days.

And users can be so enamoured over a developer they will praise anything that comes out of that studio. There are positive review bombs as well (check out Dragon Age Veilguard on Steam) - so bias exists across the spectrum. Gamers are not a unified entity with only negative bias so why do you assume they are for your argument? A bad experience with a game's price, loading time, download issues are all legitimate concerns as they will effect the enjoyment of the experience - just because they are not a direct comment on the graphics, sound or playability does not mean they are not a valid criticism. Some of those concerns are more easily fixed than others so why would a studio not want to hear such criticism? A games enjoyment is in the whole experience - anything related is fair game to praise or criticise (heck I've read postive reviews that state "easy to uninstall").

I can't disagree with Helldivers 2 being picked. The game has a good foundation, but if you aren't able to play with friends the game is way too punishing for solo players. Every time I've joined a group I've been kicked after helping complete all objectives. I brought this up with customer support and they said any changes would lead to players creating a toxic environment my response "could it be any more toxic than killing the player who was matched with a group and not letting them respawn or kicked before leaving on the drop ship giving them no rewards for their effort".

Most weapons I earned ended up being worse than the ones I started the game with. The dev also kept nerfing weapons in a non-PVP game meaning the weapons that were good, and that people earned were rendered pointless.

It's a terribly managed game that's alienated anyone who has to join other groups to progress.
I have to call BS on most of this post. First, the weapons that are unlocked are all better than the starting weapons you get right out of the tutorial. They have their unique qualities, some have fire ammo, some have more armor penetration, there is even a explosive crossbow that has the highest damage of any main weapon, and a stim pistol to shoot health into your allies. Most of the droppable stratagem weapons only expand your weapon choices.

(Not to mention that many weapons have been buffed quite a bit in recent patches so I have no idea what you mean by weapons getting nerfed....)

Second and more substantially, if you are getting kicked "Every time I've joined a group I've been kicked after helping complete all objectives", the problem is YOU.

I will admit that getting kicked out CAN happen. But the rate is less than 1% of the matches I have been in, probably closer to 1 in 200 matches. If you are getting kicked as often as you claim, you are either the unluckiest SOB in the world or the problem here is you and those groups were justified in kicking you out.

Not to mention this is a complete non-issue. If a player starts the group, only that player can kick someone out, everyone else has no power here. So if someone out there is always getting kicked out in Helldivers 2, just start a session and you can't get kicked.

Seriously, learn to play the game.
