The Best PC Games (You Should Be Playing)

I'm happy to say I have the achievement for using a defibrillator on a random raider and for being thanked 10 times for something I've done. something less than 25% of players on Steam have. I don't know how our experience is so different in the same game. Just today, I exchanged a "don't shoot" with someone and they killed me as I was stopping the fan/calling security, to extract. Another time, I had someone jump down into extraction as a rocketeer was shooting me, to finish me off, in extraction. In buried city, I had alerted a snitch and was hiding in an attic, when a raider ran past the Arc to attack me while I was hiding. It's as though we're playing different games. I now exclusively take free loadouts as I don't even bother shooting back any more. I'm sure they look at my scraps after killing me and don't even take anything.
That's the fun of the game, human nature, the unknown, not for everyone ofc, but PvE only, omg, no! Go there, do that, check achievement boxes it's boring as hell for me! But if you are the type of player that hate PvP, don't play it period, don't blame the game because it doesn't suit your play style. I know it's frustrating, especially when you start, but make quick runs with free load and you'll get better. Also, some of the best weapons in the game you can get for almost nothing, like I usually use Ferro for Arc and a Stitcher vs raiders. Yes, most of the time you'll die and lose stuff, but the game always gives you enough to continue. Don't care about losing stuff, just imagine you borrow things for a period of time and you'll see that soon enough you'll get others, even better ones. It's a circle. And don't be so pissed off because you lost, just have fun, the stories you wrote above are hilarious and they happened to me as well, but that's why, when you manage to extract it's exhilarating.
On topic: needless to say I consider Arc Raiders the best game and I'm having a lot of fun with it and I'm not even that good at it and secondly, I consider Battlefield 6 a slop, a CoD with BF3 skins, fast paced arcadish, small maps, no community servers, no weapon class restrictions, the list could go on, but it has really nothing to do with the classics other than the name.

The fact I'm not doing this to people, means it isn't human nature, it's a choice to be a ****.

And here I sit upgraded from a 1050TI to an RX6600XT last month and still playing classic games 😒
Only new game I have at the moment is Titan Quest 2 and it is still buggy as hell as there is random frame drops below 60. I really don't see a difference when FSR is enabled. I wanted to play the new Dragon Age but was so disappointed in DA3 that I just skipped it.

I meant the human nature on the whole, one could be a nice guy or an a$$, you never know. What you`re left with is stories, an experience, not "achievements" to track and forget about them once you finish the game. I often meet nice people too. A guy told me once through the proximity mic, "I`m in your back buddy, don`t worry, I won`t shoot!". And he didn`t and we played along even watching each others back. But look, most of the time people shoot first because it`s a PvP game. Maybe that`s the part you don`t get. You could get out peacefully, but that`s an exception. And sure, lately they are a lot of the so called "rats", people that ambush you on exit points or shoot you for no reason. My advice, to feel more secure, party with a friend or two and when playing solo upgrade the Stitcher to IV and put an extended mag to it. You`ll have more chances.

I enjoy satire, if it is executed well. Even satire of things I identify with! But OW was just too clumsy in it's execution to immerse myself, like a university play by drama students.

We have so many real-world examples of insidious inequality and injustice to draw upon for inspiration; there is no excuse for winging your portrayal and missing the mark.

Or we can look at other contemporary games like CP2077 that handled similar satire with a steadier hand.
There are those that like sarcasm, then there are the others. Or satire, if you prefer...

This is a half decent list. Doom Dark Ages should have been in it not the honorable mentions.
As someone who considers Doom 2016 one of the best games of all time I dropped out of Doom DA just like how I lost interest with Doom Eternal. And I was VERY excited for Dark Ages

Doom is best when you're given an arena of baddies and extreme latitude about how you dispose of them. I loved cranking the difficulty in 2016 and trying different weapon and power loadouts while chasing high scores. The most recent two Doom games seem to want to force you into specific playstyles and gameplay loops instead, with a mountain of cluttering mechanics and resource regeneration mechanics.

DDA also felt very cringey with how much the game flogs your character as a hyper-masculine power fantasy with everyone being surprised by or worshipping your prowess. You can portray strong like in 2016 without being heavy-handed or having a peanut gallery.

DDA also had too many set pieces that slowed down core gameplay to have you do the "cool thing" with a turret or mech or whatever. Spectacle over gameplay.

Thanks for sharing. Your opinions did not change mine at all.

Doom The Dark Ages should have been included in this list because in spite of it's minor problems, it is much better than many of the games that were included in the list, like Helldivers or Kingdom Come and the joke of a game Ball X Pit for example.

The editor should have called this list what it is, a list that appears to be more of a "Techspot Staff favorites" list than it is an objective list of games that meet a clearly defined set of requirements for consideration.

Close to half of the recommendations are indie titles. Goes to show the direction of all these mega budget AAA titles. Honestly, almost all the games I bought this year are indie/ rogue like titles. While the games are generally simple, but they are entertaining and offers high replay value. I think most AAA titles are NOT entertaining, but just a graphical showcase.

That's very fair, and I was sharing my personal opinion instead of trying to change your mind or justify DDA's exclusion. Apologies if it seemed like I was arguing the latter.

I miss Battlefield and Call of Duty when they were Honest.

America vs. China.

America vs. Jihadists

In modern culture, showing both if these as USA foes is a big no no.
Everyone is trying to reach Chinese market even after being told by CCP to f** off.
And the second is beyond sad. So sad that politicians blame white radicalism on stage right
after a terrorist from a certain religious background commits mass shooting. Too many rules, too many groups that must not be portrayed as villains.

Gaming industry has been screwing itself meticulously for years now, with passion and creativity.
And it's hard work began to "pay off." Things get so bad that they cannot create anything, up to the point that they outright steal art from small artists. No creativity, no passion for gaming, a million of the most *****ic rules resulting in such heinous games that they immediately become a part of culture in meme world.

The best games that genuinely surprised me lately were all Indi. But then, every more or less decent small studio that manages to make a game or 2 is being bought buy the big companies to be turned into a soulless corpse later. It is like the industry's sole existence is for help people find other hobbies.

Arc Raiders may include some PvE, but it is ABSOLUTELY a PvP first game. Avoid this game if that is a concern. It will be extremely rare to not interact with people and it will be about a 70/30 on if they just attack you on sight or not. Singles is the safest play style. If you go in with a group of three, expect on PvP. EVERYONE will shoot on sight, camp exotic objectives or ambush you at extraction. It's a toxic PvP and it's a gods damned joke.
Spot on.

That's absolutely not my experience and going on 300 hours in the game. Sure, there are some people behaving like 12 year-olds, but then again, it depends on your play style. Interact with people, make yourself known, be cool about things. You have no idea how far a bit of conversation will go to stop people from being toxic.
