Do you reckon Pricing might calm early next year?

To be honest, it's far too hard to tell how the market is going to pan out over the next month or so, let alone a quarter. There's a lot of financial uncertainty in the semiconductor industry right now, despite bellicose claims of progress and positive revenues.

All this talk about AMD being expensive to upgrade but no one seems to be talking about Intel. Their new MBs are just as expensive and cpus around the same price and you’d still have to get ddr5. What gives? At least with amd you’ll be able to upgrade just the cpu in 3-4 years but with intel you’ll have to buy a whole new system. I don’t get it

Raptor Lake supports both DDR4 and DDR5 not to mention you can run a Raptor Lake cpu on a Intel 12 gen board.

People, the solution is simple: If you can't afford it, wait 8 or 9 months for prices to come down(and they always do). It's not like the performance of your current system is going to magically tank overnight. Patience is a virtue. Try it, you'll find it suits you..

Yeah but Raptor Lake will be best you can run on LGA1700. Intel confirmed it.

On AM5 you could probably run Zen5 and possibly Zen6, both unconfirmed but at least there is hope.

You can get an entire AM4 system with 5600 & 16GB DDR4 RAM for $300-$350.

The question is, for the premium people are paying for AM5, does that ensure that ALL future CPUs are compatible for its 5 year lifespan? If so, then its an acceptable investment. But if some of the cheaper X670 Mobos cant handle some of the future Ryzen CPUs, then no, just wait for prices to plummet.
