The Last of Us is coming to the PlayStation 4 but you’ll have to wait until the last day of the year to get it. What started as a premature listing on Sony’s PlayStation Store has since been confirmed by the company and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.
A product description for the title notes it has been rebuilt for the PS4 and will feature full 1080p, higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting as well as other gameplay improvements. The description was also quick to highlight the fact that it has won more than 200 Game of the Year awards.
Chatter surrounding The Last of Us: Remastered, as it’s being called, initially surfaced late last month via PlayStation Turkey VP Sercan Sulun. The executive promised we would see both a physical and digital copy of the game with improved graphics arrive this summer. Although the timing was off, everything else appears spot-on in hindsight.
As the title implies, this is simply a re-release of the game and not the sequel that many have been hoping for. Sulun said a sequel is not coming right away but based on the original’s success, I suspect one is at least in the works.
Even still, a remastered version for Sony’s new console is good news as it will give gamers that haven’t played it on PS3 another opportunity to do so.
