This 167-page photo book is a love letter to LAN parties

Made it to several LAN parties with a bunch of mates, but that ended in 2006; however I did continue a 2-man LAN party from 2007 with a good friend who used to drag his PC around once a fortnight (until COVID) to game from morning to evening with a lunchtime stop to walk my dog(s) and then go for a pie & a pint in a local pub. Great days.

Ooo I nearly forgot about Quake III with a bunch of custom maps and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 where we'd all use the Merc CLK so it came down to driver ability to win a race we toyed with star craft a little as well

It became obsolete due to the arrival of broadband left and right. There was no need anymore to be physically in the same room anymore with your friends as you could play online. It was'nt either for the games, many came along as well to simply leech software, games and even Divx movies.

But as broadband got more integrated there's no need to again, go to LAN's for that purpose alone. You find your stuff online. I joined some tournaments and I actually came out one 3 out of 5 times; Unreal Tournament Instagib. On a athlon Slot A 600Mhz to 717Mhz OC'ed with a GF2 mx, lol.

And erasing our mistakes of the past. The American Woke movement of removing everything they find offensive is probably the single worst thing that could happen, as if we don't have reminders, the past repeats itself.
I'm sort of surprised they don't cancel out the internet too. I think that in general probably offends people. The cancel culture is a bit much, though. I won't breach into politics much further than that.

I have fond memories of hosting LAN parties for Counter-Strike and Ghost Recon. No junk food, I'm a good cook and I'd make full-on dinner buffets for myself and my friends. Man, those were some good times.

Sorry I am late to the party (forum issues)....

I host LAN parties twice a year. We had 6 people show up from out of State last time but our numbers are dwindling. Back in the EQ era we could have 20 people show up, those were the "good ole days".

So much fun to be had, because LAN Parties are essentially sleep-overs and 2-day/3-day events.. because once someone has their rig set up, it stays until Sunday night. So there is a lot of challenges and betting.

LAN are great vibes and I wish more people could experience them more often. Big tourney are just big LAN parties... so if you ever get to go to Twitch-con, or a Tourney, you'll see the comradery that takes place.
