This AI country singer just became Billboard's number one - a worrying sign of things to come

It IS different. Humans learn (not just copy) and create new music (if they don't they are sued for stealing).
AI is merely copy and pasting other people's work - which becomes an issue when they then take all the money from that stolen work. Just because AI can average 20 artists in copying them does not make it not stealing.
Except AI is not copying the work they're making derivative works Guess what rock and roll is derivative from blues Elvis ripped off blues. Everything is derivative of everything else The last original thing was Adam and Eve.

Glad I grew up in the 70's with REAL music. I don't listen to the "new" music today.

Given most of the people working in the media are left wing I can't wait to see them all have to go back to working at McDonald's.
Yes. Supervising the former Fox News employees that are sweeping the floors.

I feel like it's saying something that this happened to country music first.

Sorry, country music lovers, I just couldn't resist. Aight, imma head out.

It says something that country is the first genre to have a top AI song.

Except this song is not country. Country music has a much smaller fanbase, so by classifying it as country music, it is easier to top the charts even if it is not country fans listening to it.

I think some of you should watch Rick Beato's latest video on this topic.
This is a very specific "chart" that the song is #1 on... in this article "Billboard's Country Digital Song Sales chart"

The key is `digital song sales chart`.

It has ~3000 purchases ( at least as of Beato's video) which is a clever use of $3000 for the "artist" to get notiriety.

I.e., no one buys songs anymore, but someone is actually buying it - the suspicion (again) is just to generate this kind of news ... irrespective that #1 on this chart actually means nothing.

If your music system has any ability to produce fidelity you can easily heat how flat and generated the sound is. It has no depth, space nor deeper harmonics. Lifeless.

Really artists should just keep on focusing on making their art. This is a very long way from being any competition on a broader scale.

Yeah, too bad it's the "Digital Song Sales chart", which is of minuscule importance. The song's been bought like 3000 times or something. Clickbaity title is clickbaity.

I wouldn’t have a problem with this if the AI hadn’t been trained on real people’s songs.
That’s stealing plain and simple.

I'm going to play devils advocate a little here: Isn't this how *all* music gets done? You take ideas from other peoples work, then adapt them into a new form.

This is not a political forum; this is a tech enthusiasts’ forum. I mean, I come here to relax, and certainly not to be triggered by provocative or polarizing political comments. There are plenty of other places where it would be much more appropriate to express your political opinions, because those spaces are meant for that purpose.

It's not though, that would be like saying every new human artist that has come out has stolen other people's songs as well, because people hear (train off of) all kinds of music and then come up with their own based off that. It's the same thing here.

you realize humans are also trained on other people's music, right? Music inspires other musicians, always has always will, this is no different.
Bob Dylan trained on Woody Guthrie's music, but Dylan added his own dimension. Guthrie never did anything close to "Like A Rolling Stone". AI is different, it never adds anything that you haven't already heard. AI is mixing paint without adding any new colors. If you mix red and white, you get pink or some flavor of red and white. You will not get anything blue. If an aspiring artist adds the blue, AI steals his work, and he goes back to working at McDonalds. Other than the theft, the blue is never developed.

Except we are seeing the opposite happen, AI is learning and creating new
