  1. Bad news for South Park fans: the sequel to 2014's excellent South Park: The Stick of Truth has been delayed until 2017. South Park: The Fractured But Whole was due to arrive on December 6, but the RPG will now be launching early next year.

As is so often the case with game delays, the developers say they needed more time to add extra polish to the title. On its official blog, Ubisoft wrote: “The development team wants to make sure the game experience meets the high expectations of fans and the additional time will help them achieve this goal.”

South Park: The Fractured Butt Whole was revealed at E3 back in June, where Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of the show, shared details of the game. Like its predecessor, the sequel sees you taking on the role of a silent protagonist joining up with the South Park characters.

Rather than being more fantasy-based like The Stick of Truth, The Fractured But Whole takes aim at the superhero movie genre. The alter-egos of the TV series’ characters – The Coon, Supercraig, Mysterion, etc. – battle each other, Civil War-style, over Cartman’s plans to make billions of dollars by imitating Marvel’s cinematic universe franchise.

Last month, Ubisoft revealed a headset called the Nosulus Rift that allowed people to experience the real-life smells of the weaponized flatulence used in the South Park games. Sadly – or thankfully, depending on your fondness for sniffing farts – it’s not for sale to the public. This particular Rift was developed solely to promote the game at trade shows and conventions.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole will be arriving on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One sometime during Q1 2017.

As long as they do multiple sweeps for bugs I don't care if it's delayed.

I am just hoping that the next delay will be when it's tossed in the trash can!

I'm quite liking this new trend of delaying games until they're actually finished instead of releasing buggy piles of crap and/or massive day one patches. Let's hope the rest of the industry follows suit.

I can live with that. I want the game to work properly when it is released. If that means waiting a bit longer I can deal with it.

Well, South Park isn't really for kids. But that's not stopping them, lol.

I'm fine with the delay as long as it doesn't turn out to be a polished turd (maybe they'll throw in a last minute 4th wall joke about it).

You do realise if you don't like the game or genre, amazingly ... you don't have to buy it!
