Hi! I have just completed my first build computer from parts bought on e-bay. The motherboard manuel says support cl 2.5v ddr dimm pc1600/pc2100 ddr sdram 184 pin unbuffered dimm. I bought pc2100 cl 2.5 ddr ecc. My question as a complete novice are they the same or are they compatable.Dallond

Some ecc ram is buffered, and some is not.

We need to know more about the ram you bought.

Might as well give us the link to your motherboard's homepage as well.

Hi! there. Thanks for your time and assistance. I have looked at the manuels again and they say Max 2gb without ecc for 1gb/slot. The motherboard is msi ms 6577(hp xenon ms 6577 ver 2.1) I think it was made for Hewlet Packard as its not on msi site. I think though i may have answered my own question by without ecc.Would you agree Dallond

Yes. It looks like you found the answer. If the motherboard's manual is saying non-ecc, then I'm afraid that the ram you bought isn't going to work in there.

Take a look HERE for the part numbers for some ram that will work on your board.

Good luck!
