I vote Andrew for that absolutely sexy CM case.....not to mention I can't help but side with someone who's looked after their PC as well as Andrew has :)

May the best win :) they all need it imo.
I'm using a socket 775 computer since 2007. Mine started with a E4300 CPU, 2GB of DDR2-667MHz and a 8600 GT GPU and it was upgraded over time so now I have a Xeon E5450 (modded from socket 771 to fit socket 775), which is the equivalent of a Q9650 CPU, 8GB of DDR2 800MHz and a 7870 XT GPU (I'm still using the original 965P-DS3 motherboard). I can tell you my computer (which is my main computer) is doing fine and I can do almost everything with it. My point is that in this case an upgrade would be nice and very welcome, but I can't honestly say "they all need it" simply because I know that with some care and love (and maybe a little amount of money) these computers can do just fine.

Hmm..Core 2 Quad systems.. definitely in need of an upgrade.
But truly speaking the Core 2 Quad will surely be an upgrade for guys like me still sporting a Core 2 Duo ...
Hope this series expands to India in the next season..
Voted for Bruce though..hope he wins.
And I hope I win something too this time.:):):)

Very much appreciate the vote Ratna. And seeing you win something on top of if I win something... that would be the icing on the cake!

I'm "Oldies But Goodies" and have the QX9650 and can say that.. sure I can surf the web, I can tinker with Photoshop and I can play a few games. But those games are older ones. The one I try and play but get frustrated with because my system lags like crazy when I go inside towns... Arma 3... it's so bad most days I just give up and go watch tv. And right now that's the only game my friends are playing.

I tried playing single player of Call of Duty Infinite Warfare last year before XMas and even on lowest settings I was seeing more warping then on Star Trek. So for the better part of a year now I haven't played anything, because its just too frustrating when I have to deal with a system that has seen it's day. And 9 yrs... I really can't complain in respect to the fact that it does run well.. just not well enough to play the vast majority of triple A games that are out there and each year games are requiring more and more.

As far as putting any money into this current system... sure if I had the money I could put a couple SSD's in here and if I got really lucky I might be able to find some used matching Corsair Doms and take my system to 8GB - 12GB, but that would just be a temporary band-aid. Any system that's over 6 yrs old is really in dire need of major upgrading.

Due retirement certainly has the best looking case in my opinion. The board choice and the fact that it looks pretty clean inside, indicates that the owner actually cares about his system and at least cleans it out every once in a while. Really hope Andrew gets the upgrade package! Good luck to all the viewers as well!

Had to go for Mitch. I know the feeling of trying to play games on old hardware, pretty similar to his rig.

I've never tried ARMA 3 or the latest CoD but my Q9550@3.4Ghz with 8GB DDR2 and a GTX 760 2GB plays titles up to 2012 quite happily at high settings. It also happily runs Fallout 4, Borderlands 2, GTA IV (I never got V) and I've recently started playing Dishonored and all of them just play fine at 1080. Fallout 4 has the occasional hick up but it even does that on new i7 rigs, it's just not a very well coded game I think.

Granted, there's no denying that my Core2Quad isn't as obsolete as most of the North Korean Air Force but it can certainly still game, despite being mostly 9 years old now. It certainly does a lot more than just browsing the internet!

Eligible locations are only UK, Australia, USA and Canada but Tiagoperes (Congrates :D ) is from Brazil, so I wonder if there is any chance to submit from Africa :D

Damn, just realised there are still a of people on core 2 quad rigs. Though my APU isn't that much better to be honest and I can feel their pain. Hope the winner gets a nice system built

"Oldies But Goodies" here... My story: Go grab a coffee... it's a doozy. When I built this system back in 2008... it was with money left to me by my father that passed 2 years prior from skin cancer that had progressed into his spine that they couldn't treat and every time I turn this system on I think of my dad. So it's a touch upsetting when I can't use the system for what I originally built it for in memory of my father. This system saw enough hours of Call of Duty and Battlefield back in the day, to make it's HDD's puke from spinning so much. And now... though it can play some older titles... it's nowhere close to what it use to be and I hate feeling like it's useless and I get to watch tv and listen to music while my friends continue enjoying Arma 3.

This was my first build as well. I had originally gotten an Alienware system because I always wanted one. It ended up overheating left and right, sent it back for repairs and it was overheating on it's return to me. I myself figured out the issue, but then constant random rebooting trying to play CoD Modern Warfare and CoD World at War made me just ask for my money back and opted to build my own. Took a few months figuring out what I wanted... my original design included water cooling and OCing, but the top panels I purchased for where I modded the Lian Li 343b case, the screws were too long and punctured my new radiators and the company refused to pay for the repairs. Ended up selling all the watercooling stuff at 1/2 off on Craigslist and instead opted to stick with air cooling and stock speeds.

A year before my father passed, my favorite uncle (my fathers brother) who was living with them passed. A few months later my dad was cleaning out my uncles clothing to donate them to the Red Cross and noticed an old envelope with a rubberband around it. He said he almost tossed it in the trash, but something stopped him and upon opening it... there were a handful of old oil company penny stocks from back in the 60's or so and when they looked into them, they were worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $230,000. So they called me up and told me and my 2nd wife they would help us stop renting and to buy a house. They ended up giving us close to $60,000 to put down on the house we wanted and we were living there for barely 6 months when my wife lost her job and I worked at the same place and knew I would be next as the boss was coocoo for cocoa puffs and as fate would have it.. he fired me 2 months later.

We struggled for over a year, but eventually we ended up in foreclosure and the house was sold at Sheriff Sale and we ended up divorcing and going our separate ways. I moved to the state of Ohio where for 1 1/2 yrs I looked for work and finally got hired at a local plastics shop making really good money. But fate wasn't done with me and within a week I lost the job because I got injured... but I didn't claim the work injury because I was told the Temp Agency I found the job through, wouldn't use me anymore if I did and of course they ended up not using me anyway. Unable to work because of my injuries I almost ended up homeless in Ohio... but a good online gaming friend in Arkansas invited me to stay in one of 2 apartments he owned on his property for free while I applied for Disability.

Within about 5 months I was back in the threat of homelessness, because my friend was having issue with his wife and was moving out. Said I could stay there though since his wife wasn't moving, but within a few more months... his wife informed she was moving and the property was being sold. Thought I was going to be on the streets, but got lucky the property sold fast and the new owner approached me and told me I of course couldn't stay there for free anymore... so we made a deal... I gave him my 1995 Camaro Z28 and he would let me stay in the apartment WITH internet for 1 1/2 yrs. BUT... 3 months later I was back to wondering if I would be homeless because now THIS owner was having spousal issues! Eventually his wife left and moved back to where they were originally from and he stayed. But roughly 6 months later and numerous times dealing with my electric and or my water being turned off because he was struggling to keep up with the bills... he decided to sell the place and move back to his home state.

Some other friends online came to my rescue and helped me get moved back to my home state in Pennsylvania. Was back living with my mother... but didn't feel all that comfortable there, so I spent 99% of my time at a good friends house. He needed the help anyway because he was struggling with his diabetes that he had since birth. I also ended up losing my Disability case, due to the fact that in both states of Ohio and Arkansas... they would not give me medical coverage so I couldn't see any doctors and because of that, I had no documentation of my injuries. Over the course of a year or so... my friends health got worse and within 6 months time frame he had fallen twice due to balance issues. He spent a couple months in a rehab to get his strength and balance straightened out... came home and turned 52... a couple months later I went to wake him up to check his blood sugar and found him dead. Had died suddenly overnight and too this day I still don't know how or why.

Back spending most of my time with my mother... we ended up having a falling out and yet again thought I would be homeless. But the people that helped me move back to the area... helped me move about 5 hrs away and they currently pay to keep a roof over my head and for internet so I have some form of entertainment since I don't watch tv. And here I am... no income for 7 yrs now and still battling the government for Disability. I have at least another 2 yrs before I might get lucky and be able to get whats called SSI (Supplemental Security Income).

Life is grand!

I couldn't agree on the upgrade for Mitchel's Blue Lightning as it is not the most bang-for-buck option at the moment due to the absence of cheaper motherboards for the current coffeelake system. Colour scheme is the least of the problem here.

The Hot Tomale gets my vote here, at least there is a show of effort from Francis's part to upgrade his system.
