I know there's a new version of Firewire out; 1394b. I know there's USB 2.0, when USB 3.0 going to come and match the 800 mb/s?

Off topic. If I use a 2 gb USB driver and install Windows XP on it will my computer be able to run off it or it depends on the Motherboard?

don't worry, firewire is way better than usb 2.

and yes, that depends on the motherboard for booting to it...

Firewire never really caught on with me. Almost every peripheral I have is USB. I don't need flaming external speeds as I don't have an external hard disk. All my HDs are internal and I always make sure I have 2 of them in each computer I have.

I use both USB 1.1 and 2.0 and Firewire 400 regularly (almost daily). I don't have any Firewire 800 devices so I don't have much experience with it. Problem is this isn't usually where the bottleneck lies.
