Very long story cut short. On my HP ENVY TouchSmart Ultrabook 4, (Laptop)
I got from a friend, I reset it to factory settings. In the process of setting it up, I evidently removed a USB flashdrive improperly & got a pop up notifying me. Yes, I had a post about it but requested it be deleted since I was resetting it "again". Well, it just popped up again so I went into device manger & it shows Windows has stopped this device becuse it has reported problems . (Code 43)

A request for the USB device descriptor failed.

Picture in next post.

Ok, I believe I am confused. I thought it was one of my flashdrives that got incorrectly removed. But since thy still work in the ONLY USB thing on the laptop, hmmm, very confused

With the exception of taking the back cover off to remove battery, I think I have done everything & still no joy so I quit :)

Happened to me once before. I had no choice but to quit and just put it in the trash.

When flash drives or mass usb connected devices stop being able to be recognized by any computer.
Best bet is to do what you mentioned or if it has a warranty send it in for a new replacement.

I will read your link , but have come to the conclusion it was not a USB flashdrive causing it. The same flashdrives work flawlessly on my other laptop & desktop. Thanks for your input :)

Its telling me 18 drivers are out of date & forcing me to register in order to update drivers. If I dont register, it won't update.

DO NOT USE the program mentioned in the link, it has infected my laptop :(

Please for my sake alone, just pick the computer up, open the window toss it out into the streets or dumpster, close the window back down.
End of problematic HP Laptop or lets continue to try to help the thing.... -_-
*Don't Tell Joe I said that.* >_>
Which windows os are you currently running, it would start to explain some things if its that horrid W8 OS.

I am not too sure if this model laptop is what you have but that wireless card has gone through 4 revisions already.

If you really don't mind using a usb 2.0 wireless nic, use that instead I used belkins wireless nic n150.
Played games like a real boss until my mother started up netflix, then her smart phone clogged up everything.

N300 is a current regular speed, if your isp speeds is good, you'll have no issues what so ever getting things done.

Ok, as I said in the first post, I got it from a friend & have decided not to be concerned about finding a driver for it since ALL my flash drives work in it. I've googled for days trying to fix it, but nothing worked. Thank you for your help & even if I did toss it out my window, it would land on a plush bunch of grass scratch free :)
The HP laptop works fine for what I want it for. :) :)
