I have a 7 year old desktop, with the Windows XP o/s.
I have installed: WinPatrol, Spybot S&D, Avast!anti-virus, Start-up Inspector, Windows Defender and I have the Mozilla Firefox browser. Last night while browsing, a message came up: "USB Port not recognized". With that, I lost access to the internet. When I went to clean up some temporary internet files, the system just shut off, and restarted. I tried again, this time using the Avast! anti-virus, but it re-started again. The internet connection said: "Disconnected, firewalled" Please advise how I can get up and running again.
Also, I have all my files backed-up, and I wanted to create extra disk space. How do I delete all my backed up files, (Word, Excel, etc.)
